in a year in which we missed key players and were unsettled alot here is the result]
07 ladder
9 St Kilda Saints 22 11 10 1 50.00% 46 1874 1941 96.55% +0 Won 1
08 ladder
4 St Kilda Saints 22 13 9 0 59.09% 52 2126 1923 110.56% +3 Won 3

our scoring is higher and opps scoring is lower we won more games and made the top 4

get the injured players right and inject a new forward option and another midfielder we should advance form that

so please tell me how we are in such trouble that we need full rebuilds etc...

you have a fit michael gardiner, steven baker, luke ball, x clarke, m maguire, s dempster on the field and we look like a better team

the difference for the hawks and geelong is that when they had injuries it wasnt from kp players it was the fill in guys which is where their depth come into it.... now imagine if they were missing j bartel, g ablett, m scarlett out of their team.... they wouldnt have the big ball winners in the middle and they wouldnt have their main running defender... thats just 3 ppl and they would be about where we are now

yes we do need some one wo can inject some pace in midfield(which armo or jones could do that if they ahve a big preseason)... and some one else to relieve riewoldt in the forward(aswell as working on all their kicking

we are in a great position atm we just need to get ppl on the park and work on our accuracy

This is where my hopes lie. Jack Steven will also be a gun by all accounts. Our hardest midfielders are probably Lenny, Luke , and Baker, two of which were missing during our finals games.
We could end up with a much tougher midfield if Armitage and Jones can come on the way we want them too.
In my mind I can see Armitage playing at the level Jones has this year , but with the better kicking that he already has. I can see Jones improving his fitness and strength , and hopefully working on his skills.

Add a fit Baker, out goes McQualter and our midfield is starting to look like a tough unit.

lol how did u know it was me? and cheers if it wasn't sarcastic

When you said McQualter tags himself out of the game. I hadn't seen or heard that phrase used until I saw it here. Plush calling Fiora a plush toy.

You sound like a youngin. Year 10 maybe?

We got beat up a few times during the year, and missed some of our best tacklers at different times (Maguire, Baker, Attard, Ball).

I'm in year 8 L2M4G. Squizzy, Gwilt is a surprisingly good tackle, but i don't think he quite has the tank/speed to get a gig in the midfiled tho. Gonna be a exciting year for St Kilda next year anyhow. Harvs retiring will free up a spot for Armo/Steven and hopefully list cloggers will go so the young ones get a game every now and then. Much rather them in the fringe than Fiona, Rix, Gardiner etc.

i think next year they should mix milnes role up a bit... bring him abit further out

milne plays his best when running for goals so why not play him off a wing or hff and have him attack forward on the rebound.... and the rest him in the pocket ...

clint jones i think should be rotated through the centre rather than the wing.. his tackles and quick bursts are amazing.. and he always seems to attract the ball when near it

i think we should maybe release one of our taller options in the trade and chase a strong marking forward.... im sure theres a kid out there that could do it... or even try s fisher/m maguire down there in rotation..

that could very well solve a big gap in our forward line... (i hope they practice their kicking over the summer) steven baker i think should be eased into be backline next year and cover dempsters spot... lets face it he's been away too long to run straight in

if can pick up a young dashing midfielder in the draft it will be a massive boost.... maybe get a young kid with lots of run.. and ask harvey to personally mold him over the next 2 years?

or as a last case senario for my ideas(today)... rotate s fisher and gram at half forward and riewoldt into ff so we get the fast direct entries which are requried in todays game

I've raised that point before about Milne, he should learn a bit from Schneider, when the ball doesn't get down there he's pretty much a liability so i'd like him to have5 extra disposals each game.
