enjoyed the game by Nick Stevens today, apart from 1 or maybe 2 times he chased and pressured and tackled and ran and was 10 times the player he has been before.

the best part was, that he did these things right from the first bounce, so it wasn't that he was frontrunning.

was a big part of why we won today. Hope to see that again next week.

Agreed. Think that was perhaps the best application he has put in for a full game in the time he has been at the club. If he can do this once there is no reason he cannot always play with this passion and intensity. For mine I wouldn't care if he only got 15 possessions a week so long as he played with today's passion.

Yep to above posts!!!!!

No doubting he can play but these things seem to be mising for the most part which really ****es me off!!

He could be much better imo ( needs to be fitter also)

LOL @ the idiot who started the trade Nick Stevens thread :o

Today he was sensational ..when it was his turn to put his body on the line he did so ....great game Nick :thumbsu:

Showed the same commitment today, that he had a few years ago in his first year at Carlton. I know he takes the best opposition tagger every week, and maybe some of us supporters a a bit hard on him lately. Is really a quality player when he puts his mind to it?

Definately agree, stood up today to show he can be a quality player. Pressured the opposition and disposal was usually quite good. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him shepherd!

Gee i'm annoyed I wasn't able to be there today. Sounds like he played a blinder! Looking forward to having a look at it when I get back to Oz.

Agree with you there BM, but I just have one thought. Why can't he show that same application and endeavour every week? Everyone on here knows he has the talent, it's just whether he applies himself is that frustrates us supporters.

Today shows how well Stevens can play when he isn't the only player in the middle getting all the attention. As long as the other on-ballers support him he should stand out more often than not.

VINTAGE STEVO, i love how he just extracted the ball out of the clinches in the last q and hit people on the chest with BULLET passes.

and anyone who has been constantly on his back, eat ****, coz look what he did today.

CONGRATZ STEVO!!!!

He admittedly played his best game for the year. But another argument is, do you keep a player on your list that only has shown promise 1-2 games for the season?

But I think Stevens will be staying, Pagan I think really would want him there next year to keep the midfield settled a little.

People have short memories.
He has been 2nd in our best and fairest 2 years running.

YOU NEVER TRADE/DELIST CLASS

Was talking this season, and I guess I should have also added his attitude is a lot worse this year to the last 2.

I think the whole argument of trade was not over him not being a good player (which he can be) was over that he appeared unhappy to be playing for Carlton and was not putting in 100%.

Kudos to Stevo's performance today, he displayed nothing less than pure class. His performances of late have been very frustrating, and i must admit i have been toying with the idea of whether he would be better off being traded at the end of the year, but if he maintains this degree of intensity in his performances like he did today he'll no doubt have a long future at the club. :)

Top stuff Nick! :thumbsu:

Has been tagged heavily this year, especially as Kouta and Campo no longer play in the center.
Surely todays performance, when we needed a player to stand up, has shut the door on people bagging him. He gave 500% today.

Yeah it was nice he put in an effort today. I would've thought that would've been a non-negotiable when you're a senior player that's a supposed leader... today's effort was not before time.

only for a week mate, if he can't do the hard work next week, then he will be back where he started or worse.

Hopefully it was a turn around for him and he can continue to play this way. Was great yesterday and did the team things, lets just hope he keeps it up.

Stevens definitly played well yesterday. The question has never been if he has the ability. It is if he has the application to perform consistently. One game or even another 4 may not answer the questions fully.

If he could be counted upon to have yesterday's passion no probs. However Nick has never consistently played with passion. For those talking taggers this is not relevant to what I and other supporters talk about. Even with a tagger he can still attack the ball and still chase and tackle with passion.

I also don't believe Nick's lack of passion is just at Carlton. For some reason the guy loses focas. I really hope yesterday continues for the rest of the year. If he is here next year I hope he can do it for 22 weeks plus possible finals.

Rapt with his performance yesterday but for all those bagging those who have suggested a trade get real. One game is just one game.Further his first 2 seasons and his b&f runner ups were not quality footy either.Sure there were some top games but also many lack lustre ones.
