Not sure why the clip is meant to be good?? Took a mark about 15-20 out from goal, not much angle and handballed while on the ground to a guy under pressue who had to snap the goal.

Would have been better to take the mark and go back and kick it himself.... Seen better clips of him

Some people are never happy...

Wow

Hartlett V Naitanui

and what if Rich falls to us....

Interesting times..

Which player will serve us the longest time and assist with a chance to win a premiership...?

NikNat - Paddy Wack in my mind is a bit of a gamble. There is no doubting he is a freak but he could fizzle out as easliy as stepping up to a Buddy Franklin level of game dominance.

I just like the position freo is in, with Melbourne taking Watts and WCE taking Rich you are left with no choice - similar to picking up Palmer.

Lets just hope he works on his kicking:)

i reckon west coast are taking niknait. as they should, he is the better prospect

rich would be a nice compensation for us though

I think Rich might be the only one I would be disappointed in us taking, looking longer term.

Would much rather someone above us make the call, so we don't have to, to be honest.

do you mean in regards to the work rate issues? if so, i have that feeling as well. also the fact that he looks about 25 and may not have the improvement that someone like hartlett would

Yeah, and that he hasn't improved in 12 months, still doesn't have the tank of others etc.

I've said many times recently that I think Hartlett will end up being the best player from the draft, if his body holds.

the only reason people are thinking they'll take rich is the rumor has had them rating Rich as No.1 for the past year. I think WCE also need some guns in their midfield, so its a good pick. But yeah, i don't think its set in stone.

I think the only thing in stone is if Watts nominates, Melbourne will pick him up.

First off... he wasn't paid the mark. In those circumstances, the play-on was an excellent move.

Secondly, we have to look at teh context. Swans needed to win to make the finals and had let a big lead slip; leaving them trailing in the fourth. With their season on the line, Nat put in three HUGE plays to seal the win.

For mine, while there may be better clips available in terms of his physical ability, this clip showcases a level of mental strength that should not be overlooked.

Rich can find the football and have you guys not seen him deliver the ball lace out over 50 m with ease and also if forced to off one step send the ball from half back to half forward?

I wouldn't be upset if we got Nat but I certainly wouldn't be crying if we got Rich either (or Harltett). Rich will also be AFL ready ...means if we are going to push for a finals position ...more likely to be in 2010 than 2012.

Rich, Palmer, Hasleby, Ibbo, Schammer, Hinkley, Headland, Crowley & Mundy ....plus if we can add a Swift, Broadbent, Walters with a 2nd rounder .....that starts to look like a midfield capable of winning the ball - especially if Sandi has first hands.

Our forward line is very good ...Pav, Campbell, Tarrant, Mayne - quick effective delivery is the key.

If we could get that midfield out over the next 2 seasons ...it would be the best midfield our club has ever fielded and to me it looks like one that would match it with most in the competition.

Yep, I reckon that could be the case. Our ruck stocks at the moment are superior to our midfield stocks, which is why I think we should go for Rich if we get the chance.

But looking at those NicNat videos, I am thinking he could end up as an Adam Goodes type player.

Could be exciting times ahead. :thumbsu:

I certainly wouldn't be disappointed in us taking him. The only reason I would be, would be due to him not improving from here.

The kid does not waste a touch at all. Which is much like Hartlett, except he is a clearance machine as well.

And it looks like Nico is a Freo supporter. I think he might be trying to tell us something.

With pick number 3 we really are in a win/win situation, because all three are considered (by many) to be top 3 picks.

The other 2 players selected before us will be scrutinised heavily. Of course ours will too but to a lesser extent.

If we get Naitanui and he turns out to be a superstar then WC and Melb cop flack for not picking him. Same if we end up with Rich.

Melbourne might throw the proverbial spanner in the works and select one of the two and overlook Watts. Then we still have the Hartlett, Hurley, Zeibell options left to us who would suit our needs more than Watts.

A King, Swift, Walters or Hill to join one of them would be handy.

This decision on Jeff to me says we are going to go deep, and most probably on bottom agers in the draft.

Which ahead of next year is a smart move IMO, as we poach the best from the next draft.

King would have to be a target if this is indeed the mandate. :thumbsu:

I agree with this post absolutely!

A number of years ago, East Fremantle were playing South Freo and a 17 year old who played for East Freo named Ben Cousins had recently been announced as a pick up by WC under Father/Son at the end of that season.

East Freo had led all day but South rallied and got a lead with a minute or two left. Cousins had earlier gone into the forward line (out of the centre) due to a bad ankle. For the next bounce he put himself in the middle (limping), he grabbed the ball from the bounce, grubbered it to CHF, ran by his teammate for the handball receive and kicked the goal to win it for the Sharks - he then limped back to the forward pocket.

It wasnt the quality of play so much as the timing and the absolute will to win, coupled with the belief and the ability of a 17 year old.

Nick Natanui showed those same qualities on Saturday.

naitanui could easier play a third tall foward and has the agility of a small forward. best player available. get the best and design a structure around the players you have.
