Did anyone else see Jenny McAsey's short article on Nick Davis in The Australian this morning? It's about him practicising his place-kicking at training. It must be a little humiliating for Davis that after being challenged by his coach, a few days later an article appears giving the clear impression he doesn't really seem to care that much about rising to the challenge.

Maybe it's just nothing more than the media smelling blood in the water with Davis and being a little mischievious - but that doesn't seem her or The Australian's style (Patrick Smith aside). I don't know much about her, but her softer articles in the past suggest she's got something of an inside track at the Swans. It's interesting, just sense that something is going on!

i feel bad for Davis seriously if i was in his position having only recently played in two grand finals and now all of sudden been dropped for lack of form and being picked on by everyone i would have been gone by now if i was coaching him i would simply start by giving him his confidence back and be telling him what he can do and not what he cant do

this is why i couldnt be famous as soon as you do something wrong its a media/public gold mine...no one reflects on good things anymore

Hope davis is back soon i miss him and hes been doing really well in the 2's so hopefully soon rather than later

That's place kicking like in rugby yeah? (sorry, VERY Tasmanian here).

Maybe he was just taking his mind off all the extra publicity he has been getting lately? I would rather him out on the park doing anything hitting the Colonel up for a feed.

Davis has cooked his own goose and the sooner the better he is given his marching orders the better.Largely misled opinion of his own ability, selfish and lazy are traits that clearly dont fit with a playing list that is built upon respect, trust, honesty and above all else selflessness. One quarter of football all be it an important one will all he will ever be remembered for.Blokes like Kelly,Kirk,Lockett,Goodes have played quarters like that to pull games out of the fire on a regular basis through their careers but more importantly have played with a consistent output into the clubs bid for success. Some blokes who have come and gone from the club in the last 5 or 6 years never had the ability Davis posesses but at least they walked away knowing they gave it their best for the cause of the bloods unlike Davis who is an overated Prima dona who has been carried for far too long. Just ask a bloke like Leo Barry why he has those shoulders so heavily strapped every week and he would have only one answer.BLOODY NICK DAVIS.:(

Tell us how you REALLY feel man! Don't be surprised by the announcement of some sort of 'mutually acceptable arrangement" being reached between player and Club before the start of the 2009 trade period, maybe before the end of this season. Can't help feeling that he has run out of second-chances and the Club has begun circling the wagons. It was always going to end ugly for Davis I'm afraid - he just seems to be one of those guys.

Eh, atleast getting rid of him will clear some cap room to keep O'Keefe.

Pretty sure that his contract still counts in our salary cap until it expires.

I think this issue might have contibuted towards our salary cap pressures this year - I think Doyle's and Chamber's contracts only expire this year.

Do so many poeple forget 2005! First flag in 72 years and the bloke responsible for getting the Swans there is copping a heap.
He may not get back to the top - no footballer plays forever, but abit of respect please.
Paul Roos is entitled to comment on anyone, but a member of the press?!
PDJ

If he is switching codes,it must be some new form of rugby where you dont have
to chase and tackle!

I wouldn't mind betting that with his classic kicking style, that he doesn't have a crack at NFL (gridiron) following in the steps of recent AFL converts in Ben Graham, and Sav Rocca ??

It is shame that he won't embrace the bloods ethos, but like the previous posters, I think the coaching staff and leadership group have finally lost patience with him.:(

yeah of course we remember which is why we've given him more credits we would someone else. If it weren't for his performance ion that final this would be a non issue, he'd be in the seconds no questions asked.

Thank GOD roos and the other selectors aren't as sentimental and irrational as the nick davis lovers.

and don't get me wrong, i loved the guy too and still like him but quite frankly there is no place for him in our current gameplan.

Does anyone have any theories why the Swans gave Nick Davis a long term contract? I think he may have three years remaining after this year?? If we off load him at years end we will have to make up the difference an opposing club will pay him. That undoubtedly will hurt our future list planning as it is counted in the cap. He is fast loosing currency. We might get stiffed here.

i think we ask collingwood if they would give us dale thomas and they can have nick back????

It's believed Davis spoke wholeheartedly of his passion and determination to silence his critics. Thompson failed to return The Sunday Telegraph's calls to clarify his client's position.
But if Davis is to resurrect his career, he has no better mentor than Thompson, who was shown the door at St George Illawarra in 2005.
He joined the Cronulla Sharks in 2006, producing arguably the best form of his career, highlighted by representative honours for the 2007 City Origin team.
Swans fans will be hoping Davis can follow a similar path.

That part gives me hope that he can turn it around. I'm pretty sure he can get back in the team and lift his intensity and work rate but as so often the case with guys like Davis it's a matter of sustaining it.

You are joking?

Obviously we're not going to get daisy thomas but he's much much much much more valuable than nick davis. He'd be a star in our team, in any team AND he's nearly 10 years younger than nick...

hes a soft outside player i dont rate him at all

and i want nick back in the seniors

Swans fans hope that Davis will leave the Swans and then star at another club?!? Uh, no.

Article does shed light on a number of things!

What expert AFL advice would a ex Rugby player (Thompson himself one that suffered from lack of team committment and discipline) be able to offer Nick by way of encouragement and direction to comply with specific Swans coaching panel demands!?

Manager at friendly "coffee" meeting, was Ireland educating both or indicating trade likely?
