Or maybe some people overreact to losses, and dont like giving up their ill formed opinions.

I've always been of the opinion that you learn far more from losses than you do from wins. Particularly ones where you belt an undermanned opposition offering 0 defensive pressure by 50+ points.

I'm far more interested how guys perform when under the pump, backs to the wall etc. You want to identify the guys that regularly go missing when you lose. Hence, rectify the reason why you're losing (by either removing those players, or fixing their deficiencies).

Also, Essendon are second only to Melbourne for point conceded (and that's quite an effort considering Melbourne's year). Probably not the best team to use when assessing a forward.

I really hope Gill can stay fit and firing, he's definitely proved he can be great value (both team wise and entertainment). But he still needs to work on his kicking. It's all very amusing when he kicks into the man on the mark or shanks them from 20 out when you're 9 goals up. Not so amusing if you lose by a few points.
