Hard as nails. I don't see how anyone can say anything else. You can degrade his skills all you want, but his courage cannot be denied. He might seems like a "wannabe tough guy" at times with the way he tries to enforce his presence, but that doesn't change the fact that he's fearless on the field.

Easily the most passionate in our team, consistently owns his opponent, never pulls out of contests, reads the play very well, ticks all the captaincy boxes ect........

The 2 goals outside 50 within minutes, as inspirational as it gets, lifted the team, and he plays down back ffs. He pretty much was the reason we beat Adelaide.

Then Finally (I had been screaming at the TV for 2 quarters for the move) took Brown off and Maxwell on. Maxwell owned Riewoldt.

Sure he's not "Barry Hall" tough, but he's as brave as they come.

His high elbow on Murph last year was a bit weak. Also, after that hit he did not touch the ball for the next 2 quarters and looked scared as a rabbit, so I wouldn't call him tough.

He is physically weak and incapable of causing any damage to anyone without sniping them. Nobody could doubt his courage, but I would say the same thing about most AFL players, so his courage doesn't make him stand out from anyone else.

Jonathan Brown is an example of a player i would regard as tough, he is fearless also, but added to that he also intimidates apponents because he is likely to hurt them in general play, without sniping. There are numerous other examples, but Nick Maxwell is not one of them.

How does being able to hurt someone make you tough exactly?

Glenn Archer didn't get his reputation on the back of hurting other players.

I would say your own Sam Lonergan is tough but he doesn't hurt or intimidate players on the field.
