Has a break even of approximately 124 this week, though Saints are up against Essendon, and his last 5 games against the Bombers have consisted of scores of 120, 114, 133, 86 and 62 (albeit in the NAB cup). With a career average of 95.3 against Essendon, a score of 124 is by no means out of the question.

The reason I ask is like many others, Barry Hall has forced a trade and whether that be exercised this week or not is yet to be decided. With Tippett the only option to cover for Hall's absence, would a trade this week of Hall>Riewoldt be more ideal than holding out a week and potentially saving "X" amount of cash, however running the risk of a significantly lower score from Tippett?

Something to ponder amongst posters. (Note: Purely a Riewoldt based question, not whether B. Johnson etc would be a better option)

Definitely go Riewoldt

Not necessarily...

Three factors need to be considered.

1) League or overall win comes into play.

2) If league win is the priority (which it should never ever be) the strength or weakness of the opponent's team needs to be strongly considered.

3) If overall, well I strongly agree with trading in Riewoldt. The sake of $5,000 or so cannot be substituted for the potential 60 to 90 extra points that can be accrued. Furthermore, Riewoldt could quite easily surpass the breakeven.

The other benefit on holding off the trade, if your circustances allow it, is Riewoldt could go down this week after just a kick & be out for weeks. Very hypothetical, but this sort of bad luck happens all the time.

I am considering Riewoldt for Tredrea myself. With a little bit of patience though, I can trade Bartel into my side ... decisions, decisions.

Good analysis Neb. I'm in a similar situation, although I've got Rioli to cover for Hall if needed.
Knowing that Rioli has been pretty good so far this year, I'm trying to speculate how much the points difference will be. I think Riewoldt can be pencilled in for 100 at least. And Rioli probably 70 - knowing that the last few games between the two teams have been good in fantasy terms and Rioli is in pretty good form.
So is it worth forgoing 30 points to save about $5000? I'm not sure.

Ive taken a risk this week and put roo as my captain.
Just for the fact of his 95 average against Essendon
and the fact that he is due for a 'HUGE GAME'!

What are other ppl's thoughts?

Should i go for someone more reliable eg. Chad?

Call it a premanition if you like but i got a feeling
he's gonna kick 5 tonight! haha

Go with your gut instinct. :thumbsu:
I feel that Chad will do well, but as you said Riewoldt is just as likely pull out a huge score.

Never put a player captain because he is due for a huge game imo. If you think he will go but then go for it.

PS: Paddy Ryder will most likely get the job on Riewoldt ;)

I haven't seen much of Ryder, but does he have the tank to run with Riewoldt all night? I wouldn't have thought so last year, but don't really know how much improvement he has shown.

I agree with this. I have Aaron Edwards in my forward line who has a BE of 55.
If Edwards scores around 75 he is likely to increase around 7K.
If Riewoldt scores an 85 then he will drop by anywhere between 5-7K.

Then my question is, is an extra 10-14K worth what could be anywhere between 10-80 points?

I am in the same situation as you, the extra 15K mat aid me in getting Bartel in around months time:confused:

Decisions indeed.

Ryder has a big tank and is a great defender. Quickly rising in the ranks of defenders and I rate him highly. There is a chance Riewoldt will be shut down by him. Also Charlie Gardiner is in the team which probably means Riewoldt will stay in the 50 more. Very undecided, dunno who to go for, Riewoldt, Murphy, RoK, Buddy... choices.

For those that dont have him hopefully he wont get much of it this half :D

Riewoldt and Jon Brown just dont look in great touch right now. At least they still score ok when out of touch but just having a slow start to 08.

think i may have to miss the Riewoldt train. I can't justify trading out Hill or Rioli at this current stage for him. The only other option is Deledio and he is hardly my weakest link at the moment.

also done the Hall> Reiwoldt trade...done it 2 mins before lockout aswell..

what swayed my decision to do 2 trades this week was that Mcnamara was dropped so i thought i would trade him out for Wona to get some cash...

Then did the Bazza to Roo trade which has paid off...

Am thinking of a Deledio -> Riewoldt trade. Have the $ to use - I'd say a high mid-ranger to a gun, so not a sideways trade. (Have 16 trades left) Opinions?
