Im just interested in some of the comments made on the saints board.
They say that Dal might be used as trade bait..

What do you think?
Would you want to go after him or not?

Funny thread after Stevens has been whacked from pillar to post for being a soft, outside receiver, when that's exactly what Dal Santo is.

The Saints seem to have a highly inflated sense of worth regarding Dal Santo so we'd have to give a fair bit for a player that we could easily do without.

If we're to go after a midfielder it should be Prismall who wouldn't break the bank and would be a better player for us and for a longer period of time.

Dal Santo is soft, unaccountable and doesn't have express pace. He's not the type of player we want or need in any sort of hurry.

Let him stay an Aint for life.

Christ, what has Del done to have slipped so far in people's eyes? I can't believe he has gone from Wonderboy to Jeremias' assessment. What happened there? Sorry, I reckon he has some currency left. Mind you, teams clear players for a reason. Perplexed - but keen to see us trading clever. :thumbsu::)

He's not an average player by any stretch - but he is very much a downhill skier and struggles to have an impact when the pressure is on. I agree with J's assessment of him.

I think it is because midfield more than ever is about gut-busting running. Once upon a time it was only Cousins, Judd and Kerr doing it - now even all the Kangas are doing it

I've voted "no" with the same reasoning I voted "no" to going after J Brown.

If we have that much money to spend and assets to trade, I think we may be able to get pieces of the puzzle that we need more.

Of course these guys are good players and would improve our team, but I don't think the cost/benefit is the best we can do.

By the same token, I won't be furious if we add Kerr, Dal Santo and/or J Brown next season!

I'd LOVE to get Harris. Very tough and hard at it. Great in and under type
Yeah your right on it there. dont think he would be much not to many people rate him. He is Bentick X 5.
Very tough little nuggety player.
like the way he plays.:thumbsu:

why not go for Dal Santo. He mid 20. great kick on both feet.
stevens is gettin on now.
how old is stevens. 28?

I rate Dal Santo, but still voted no.

Judd, Stevens and Murphy are not overly defensive mids...we don't need to spend a truckload of cash adding perhaps the least defensive minded quality mid in the comp to the mix.

Yeh, that.

Exactly right. No way I would think that he would be a target for us.

Any chance he'd flourish under a coach that wasn't a lifeless zombie or treated him like a school-kid??

Agree, would be an upgrade on Bentick.

I know laidley gave Harris a spray a while back, but highly doubt he'd be traded with Simpson nearing the end.

Laidley told him that his career at North is over. They hate each other. Laidley and Harris' manager had an interview after said game where Laidley gave Harris a spray. He definitely wont be at the Kangaroos next season.

I think what has happened to Dal is that he has been worked out by other teams.
If you sit on him he tends to struggle, and with Harvey retiring, he will struggle even more next year, and he doesn't really have a defensive work ethic.

When people let him go to chase Hayes, Harvey and Ball, Dal was great, but maybe he started to believe his own press and got lazy, or maybe, as I said, teams have figured him out.

Either way, he is another Nick Stevens, but less damaging.

Given what he would cost I think our trading will be done elsewhere.

He also signed a new contract at the start of this season........which starts next year.
He would have to want to leave otherwise the club can't make him in the first year of a new deal.:thumbsu:

Not even worth talking about when he won't leave the Saints.

We need Ziebell, Hartlett or Hurley more than we need to trade for a Dal Santo.

I hate downhill skiers when they're predominantly outside players and receivers.

I wouldn't mention Judd or even Murphy in the same breath as an unaccountable player like Dal Santo.

They go at it a bit harder than Dal Santo.
