The conditions don't help, but this Dees-Pies game is very, very bad. Again the AFLW unlucky that this is the game that gets televised on Seven, as opposed to last night's which was a much better standard.

We are struggling because we lost like 6 of our best players and most of them being in our forward line.

I don't think it's luck at all. It's incompetence that the AFL continues to back in Collingwood after all this time when the evidence is clear they should never have been given a licence in the first place. On merit, they would be behind Sydney and Hawthorn.

You lost 6 of your best players because your entire club treated them atrociously. Should have stuck with netball.

Good to see Jess Duffin getting the recognition she deserves...

BRISBANE was back with a bang at the weekend, recording a 32-point win over the Western Bulldogs. The Lions' impressive effort resulted in four of their players selected in the AFLW Team of the Week.

North Melbourne has featured heavily in Team of the Week selections this year, and round four was no exception, with four Roos picked.

FULL FIXTURE Check out when and where your club plays

The team, brought to you by AccorHotels, is selected to mirror the All Australian side: five defenders, six midfielders (including a ruck), five forwards and five interchange players.

Like the All Australian team, it has players selected in general categories, rather than in traditional positions. The 16-a-side set-up often means teams play with varying configurations, making set selections (e.g wings and flanks) difficult.

Defenders: Jess Duffin (North Melbourne), Amanda Farrugia (Greater Western Sydney), Kerryn Harrington (Carlton), Kate Lutkins (Brisbane), Maddy McMahon (Geelong)

Duffin's strong season continued on Sunday against Melbourne, and the Roo should feature in voting for the AFLW best and fairest award.

Lutkins and Farrugia were back to their best after a quiet few games, while Harrington had a round-high seven rebound 50s.

McMahon's confidence has risen by the week – she reads the ball well and knows when to leave her opponent. She also received eight votes in the AFLCA coaches' award.

Midfielders: Jess Foley (ruck, Adelaide), Ally Anderson (Brisbane), Alicia Eva (Greater Western Sydney), Emma Kearney (Western Bulldogs), Jaimee Lambert (Collingwood), Erin Phillips (Adelaide)

Foley (24 hitouts, 13 disposals and five inside 50s) breaks through for her first team of the week selection after several close calls.

Phillips (25 and two goals) had another dominant performance, while Kearney was especially dangerous, particularly in the first half.

Eva (21 touches) was influential against her old side, Lambert had eight clearances and Anderson's hard running and strong form continued.

Forwards: Kate McCarthy (Brisbane), Phoebe McWilliams (Geelong), Aliesha Newman (Melbourne), Cora Staunton (Greater Western Sydney), Stevie-Lee Thompson (Adelaide)

McCarthy played close to her best match for the Lions (two goals and five tackles) while fellow speedsters Newman and Thompson were also important.

Key forwards McWilliams (10 disposals, six marks, three tackles and a goal) and Staunton (14 disposals, three marks, six tackles and a goal) were also valuable.

Interchange: Brianna Davey (Carlton), Nat Exon (Brisbane), Emma King (North Melbourne), Karen Paxman (Melbourne), Jamie Stanton (North Melbourne)

Davey played both in defence and in the centre, while King was once again at her most dangerous up forward, rather than the ruck.

Paxman (25 disposals and six inside 50s), Exon (16, six tackles and a goal) and Stanton (an equal career-high 21 touches) were industrious for their sides.

So with only 3 rounds to go I am starting to see the path to the finals. I would like us to finish top because if we don't it will likely be an interstate Grand final in Adelaide or Freo... Presuming Collingwood is a walk over am I correct thinking we can finish top if...

1) We beat Freo and have a narrow loss to the crows (who now seem to be our biggest challenger seeing as they beat freo)
2) Go unbeaten (obviously)
3) Beat the Crows we can then afford to lose reasonably heavily to Freo in the final round as we have a big % in hand to them

Opposition games
Freo most likely to split up away to Geelong
Crows have to play Melbourne

Umm...

There is some seriously salty tears going on in this comp around our team. It'll be the same when the men's team start dominating again. Too many have forgotten our rightful place at the top of the table over the last 4 decades. They'll learn.

And not just from other clubs, although the new standout has to be the father of Collingwood's woefully under-performing captain in deflection overdrive on twitter.

The two peanuts on the AFLW website's videos (basically a Play School version of Footy Classified) can't stop talking about us and how we score "so well" despite the fact Adelaide and Fremantle's total points are higher. I click in hope of finding discussion about game plans and structures, ball use, tackling intensity etc, instead it's always: "Why did team x lose? Because players y and z were poooaaached. That's all we have time for, goodbye."

If the reverse result happened on Saturday with the Bulldogs defeating Brisbane by 30 pts, they'd still be saying it was because of North's recruiting but with the words "Kearney and Bruton" replaced with "Stanton and Ashmore". So much insight.

Have come to a play centre this morning so my little one can work out some energy without being in the full on heat.

There's 2 kids here in full on AFLW kit both with 1 on their backs.

Brilliant.
