Just heard on the radio that Geelong is fielding the same side on Saturday arvo that it got pumped with against the pies.

if this is true you got to wonder why?
how did DJ, hunt, kingsley, playfair get out of being dropped starting to lose some respect for bomber, but if it works then i'll get it right back

king and tenace are injured so that's two changes, but fair dinkum how can playfair and kingsley still be in the team? that's just weak from the coaching staff imo.

Just seen a grab of Bomber on ABC tv sport - he has said their will only be the two changes BUT the players are on their last chance "they had better play well". All I can say is he is pretty bloody patient. I would wonder what I had to do to get a game if I was Tim Callan assuming Wojcinski comes in for Tenace. My hope is that Mackie comes in for King so we are not as top heavy as we have been in previous weeks.

I actually think there is some merit to this idea.

Yes, they got pumped but they should all be smarting a keen to do very very well, be very physical and put everyhting on the line to win.

In a sense it will really weed out who is fair dinkum and who isn't. Though after last saturday, you'd say most aren't.

Ya 2 forced changes, but no coaches moves. Bomber is trying to hold a steady ship, but if we lose to Richmond, heads will roll.

lol i'm not surprised you think there's some merit in the idea nana, after all if bomber decided to make a statement by giving some senior players a spell, then your man Kent would be the first to line up in the VFL. imo Bomber should make a stand and demonstrate to the players that that kind of rubbish is unacceptable regardless of who you are

Inlcuding King?

Thompson said in an article on afl.com that he wont be playing and some other Geelong hack wont be playing either.

Nice try at a troll....didn't work.

My gut feeling says King won't play...has it been confirmed has it?

I wouldn't care if Kent got sent to the VFL, he'd get some decent delivery then and kick 10 goals.

Its the senior group that got us into this mess, now they should be responsible for getting us out.

that's a fair point, the delivery into the forward line was abysmal. However even so Kent's second and third efforts have been atrocious for several weeks now. He and Playfair (who I'm generally a fan of) have failed to hold their marks and when the ball has hit the deck neither have applied any sort of foward line pressure and allowed the ball to be rebounded at will. At least one of them should be made to pay for their sub-par form with a stint in the reserves, allowing someone else to have a fair dinkum crack.
Also, I believe Kent is a part of the senior group.

senior group hey nananana, well I thought Kent was in that "group". 1 goal in 4 weeks is disgraceful and should (but wont) be dropped. simple. ;)

Thompson said today: "We said last week we've got our full side out there, our best 22, and we're basically going to back them again to do what they should be doing," he said.

Kingy is definately out this week and possibly the week after. Thompson said "He's disappointed - we all are - but we've won games and played a fair bit without Steven King in recent times. He's not there, we move on, we pick a side and move on without Steven King for the next two weeks."

As for Kingsley: "The easy thing to do would be to drop him - it would please a lot of our supporters and a lot of the media - but we can't do it, we're going to make him play".

I just read an article on Foxfooty website and it says:
Geelong coach Mark Thompson said yesterday David Wojcinski, Shannon Byrnes and Andrew Mackie were "real good chances" of being recalled from the VFL to play at Skilled Stadium.

I supose we should just wait patiently till Thompson tells us the team. LOL I want to know now! lol

I can appreciate the logic in that... Show him some faith and he'll come good, but if Kingsley does nothing again this week or fails to show any sort of passion or endeavour on the field than Thompson will have to bite the bullet and send him to the VFL and give one of McCarthy, Ablett or Lonergan a shot. You can argue that they're even worse than Kingsley but at least they'll have a red hot go, something which Kingsley has been sadly lacking of late.

Andrew Mackie told me tonight that he is in. So take that for what it's worth. King himself tonight said he is definately out.

The best (that is our most talented/experienced) side should play regardless of form less changes for injury. That means the 22 that played last week less King and Tenace. They need to stand up and play to best of their ability. Players like Kingsley, Playfair et al should not be dropped. They need to show that they are a finals team.

Yeah but who are we supposed to bring into the forward and back line if we drop all these players? Mackie and Byrnes are supposed to be comin in to cover injuries but who else to do see as ready to really step up. The only additional change i'd support is kingsley out-nablett in. If we have to have someone doing absolutely nothing at FF then at least nabs could be getting crucial experience to build for the future and work on his game... kingsley is never going to get better, although i think a couple of weeks in the 2's and a few 5 goal hauls could do him the world of good ...

Well, I suppose I can see the logic behind it - just so long as any poor performances this week are rewarded with a trip to the magoos the week after. If a senior doesn't perform this week then bye bye. Otherwise, the selection committee simply isn't doing its job.

Anything else interesting come out of the dinner, renegade?

Yeah i'll report on it soon. I think the sponsors will get the report in their email tomorrow morning, then i can post on the board about it.

We haven't won a game without Steven King all year. When King goes down during the game we have lost. When was the last time Geelong won a game (NAB excluded) when the skipper was not playing?

Not a jab but a serious question.
