Disappointing, but now the changes

The Ins…
• Bower: Has size, class and speed. Has confidence in his ability. Bit loose, but has the ability to hurt an opposition with rebound from defence.
• Blackwell. Is ready. In he comes. No more waiting
• Russell. The 2 week run in the seniors did him the world of good. Impressed in the last VFL match. Time for a recall
• Bryan. More talented than MaClaren. Taller, faster, and a better kick. Good when resting in the forward line. Not great at the centre bounce, but still better than Maclaren. Useful around-the-ground, because unlike most ruckman, he has extremely good foot skills

Outs
• Saddington
• MacClaren
• Wiggins
• Bannister

Promote from the VFL Reserves
• Edwards: Don’t put players of this ability in the VFL reserves
• Aisake: Looks to be a very good ruck prospect. Has been BOG several times. Time for the next step. His rapid progression warrants it.

Encourage
• Setanta. Feel sorry for this guy. Some of the media criticism of him was extraordinary, and shattered his confidence. This guy can make it. Be patient.

Attitude
• Back ourselves!
• Relinquish the defensive mindset
• Play off our opponents, and back ourselves to more damage
• Attack is the best form of defence
• Instil confidence and belief in our young players

:)

Summed up perfectly Parrot.

Lets get Russell back in the team as I thought he looked quite composed and ready to play. He needs to get more game time and more games.

Lets give Bower a go. I still think he may need more time to develop but lets see how he goes and he may suprise us.

Aisake looks the goods from all reports. Could be a great ruckman in a few years time. He has very good skills from what I have seen so lets try and fast track him as I think the Ruck is one area where we have a real defeiciency.

Not too sure about Bryan though, would like to see him play with a bit more intensity and be more physical. The only player that provides a real physical presence at the moment is Fevola. Other than the big Fev no one else has a go at the opposition.

Agree, wholeheartedly...
Now is the time to invest the clubs energy, faith and resources into the kids. There is no getting worse, we have hit rock bottom. Hartlett (when fit), Russell, Kennedy, Bower and others. Get the boys out there for a couple of games, give them 60 minutes +, play them on the Hirds, Buckleys and Akers. See Zac Dawson
Give the supporters some hope, so we know that it is light at the end of the tunnel. A baptism of fire some may say, I call it delayed gratification, what we put into them now, will be rewarded in the future.

Nice to see a positive attitude. So much negativity on BF boards. Agree on Bryan, but compared to what we’ve got he’s much better. Can be used as a tall forward. Aisake seems to be our best chance at developing a star ruck. Promoting him to the VFL seniors may also help his brother out during his current confidence slump. :)

Agree with you re Aisake Parrot. I have seen him at training occassionally and the skills of the game seem to come more naturally to him than to his brother.

I think the negativity on the BF boards is a result of naivity and a lack of reality. The penalties (even though we dont want to harp on it) had a significant impact on the quality of our playing list. In my opinion we are only just starting to surface again. We have some great young talent (Murphy, Walker, Simpson, Kennedy, Betts) and some players in their early to mid 20s that are already proven (Fevola, Waite, Fisher, Stevens, Houlihan, Thornton). We now need to keep adding quality players to this group and logic tells us that the performances with turn around. Just look at the impact that Murphy has had in his first year - he will develop into a very good midfielder for us for years to come.
