So it is like a bigger version of Scumbury. I've already heard of kids getting the shit beaten out of them for a pair of shoes at my morning bus stop and a couple of the highschool kids talking about ways of concealing coke (the drug) from cops and bragging about how much they could take before getting high...
Okay okay everybody just calm down.

Ahh Geelong. For people who like the Frankston vibe but think..."can I also be 2 hours away from anywhere interesting."

Eww Edgewater is full of million dollar monstrosities and dickhead yuppie ******s. I honestly miss the junkies and dealers, they were more honest and hard-working. He's probably talking about Maidstone. Beautiful old school suburb.
Cmon Mike, have you forgotten your roots? We at Footscray preach diversity and tolerance.

Seriously watch this though if you've got time and haven't seen it. Worth it.

It will cleanse your soul like a Buddhist Monk.

Note: Can't believe this account still works. :p

Not to mention when I was a kid we never went to the Gisborne fair after 4:00 because of the grudge between gissy and sunbury and Gisborne's own crack pots.

Oh and if you are ever in the area drive through Goonawarra as quickly as possible that place is like the Bronx

Went to the Irish Knox City yesterday. Had a pint and Parma there and it was great. Haven't been back there in a while as I was busy with Uni but now over the summer holidays intend to go more often.

That was hilarious until it became all preachy. Just like South Park.
I'll accept a lot of things but those bastards who built a cafe' on Essex St and opened an American Burger restaurant in middle Footscray, cannot be abided. I want my Footscray back damnit!
(Disclaimer: Post may or may not be entirely serious, in fact the Cafe on Essex St has some decent coffee and Ebi Fine Foods is brilliant)

Fair enough mate. I've also got a confession to make. I lied I'm not from Footscray! *OUT!*

Edit: Don't mind a smidge preaching from others as I'm always willing to take new information on board, think a little different and challenge our current ideas. Just no need to be ad nauseum.

So um... I'm guessing there's no reason to visit Geelong?
I'm here.

Plus it's nowhere near as bad as people say. I've been in many, many Melbourne suburbs way worse than Geelong. 23 years so far without incident for me :p.
In terms of attractions to just visit Geelong, there's not a lot. Summer is the best time to visit, as we have very easy access to a lot of awesome beaches.
The appeal for me is just the lifestyle. You can drive 10-15 mins from the city and end up in the country. Not just a sprawling concrete jungle like shitty Melbourne.

Sounds exactly like where I'm from in Perth, except our beaches actually exist :p

Going to Melbourne for the beaches is like going to Perth for the cold weather.

Nah man it's not that bad. Can be nice when it's warm. We (and by we I mean mostly me) all just like giving Igloo shit about living there.
Still when a local calls it a city don't believe them. It's like when a South Australian tried to convince me that Adelaide was a city. Silly people the word you're looking for is town. A city actually has buildings and people.

Gather round, kids. Tonight will be another round of drunk Pogba posting :p
No luck for you, my phone went dead about two minutes after posing in here ;)

Pfft, our beaches exist. Just the one right next to town is stinky and terrible.

Going to Melbourne for the beaches is like going to Perth for the cold weather. Going to Geelong for the beaches is like going to see some pretty great beaches ;)
Do your beaches stake claim to being the home of the Rip Curl Pro surfing competition? I think not! :p

We call the city centre "town", does that count?

You disappoint me greatly.

Geelong is awful. Went down there last week for a few beers and hated it. The roads the next day were a nightmare too. Home house is the only good thing about the town.
