IIRC they got straight setted though?Hawks were 4th in 2018 at the end of the H&A season.

I still think people are sleeping on Brisbane

I've said this before, but JHF just plays a loose, unaccountable role at stoppages. He only has one job. Run to the contest at pace, grab the ball and exit. You can't touch him before he gets the ball, and once he gets the ball, he's hard to stop.JHF is the difference this year.
He has been the catalyst for a few late season wins. Now starting to get 25 plus disposals and a couple of goals a game.
Hard to tag out as he is a physical player and can shift momentum.
The opposite to Butters who only plays to a high level when he Port are on top. He is not a momentum changer.
JHF is.
I still think Sydney, GWS and even Hawthorn are better than Port. Mainly because these teams have a better spread of talent.
But can see Port making the GF.
To use Kenny's words, opposition teams really need to "terrorize" him then Butters. It will go a long way towards them wining.
Scott is an experienced succesful coach, he will know how to strategize to beat them, its whether he has the cattle to do the job.
They did, but the question was when they were last a premiership contender.IIRC they got straight setted though?
The team that finished first?Finals have always been like this.
Team finishing higher gets the extra rest time.
But it was a fair throw wasn't it......just like the fair bump ?Port supporters wanting Luke Ryan reported for throwing Georgiades over the boundary.
I was laughing. Oh the hypocrisy![]()
Feels like us in 2018-19...on the verge of a complete implosion.Three weeks for Pickett.
Melbourne's 2025 first pick could be valuable.
If Fremantle won their draw they'd have made it too (and knocked Carlton out). I think that kind of illustrates why the draws are so great and should stay.Collingwood just had to win one of their 2 draws to play finals.
All the "Port always choke in finals" talk scares me more than anything.
It will be a brave club that embraces a full rebuild and manages to scoop some alleged quality in the upcoming draftFeels like us in 2018-19...on the verge of a complete implosion.
This year feels ominous for port but i still struggle to see how they score a winning total against a top-tier team. If they win it'd be one of the funnier outcomes given the meltdowns about Hinkley and that seems to have some cosmic weight nowadays. All the "Port always choke in finals" talk scares me more than anything.
People said that about Geelong before 2007.
People said it about Richmond before 2017.
Everyone sucks in finals, until they don't.
But it was a fair throw wasn't it......just like the fair bump ?
Please dont use shape keepers unironicallyI've said this before, but JHF just plays a loose, unaccountable role at stoppages. He only has one job. Run to the contest at pace, grab the ball and exit. You can't touch him before he gets the ball, and once he gets the ball, he's hard to stop.
(the above is not a criticism of him at all. it's beautiful actually)
It makes a mockery of shape, systems, etc. Have one player who is completely unpredictable and smashes everything up, but also has the elite skills to execute it. Dangerfield was the same. I remember when Campo used to get frustrated at Dangerfield for not keeping shape. Its the wrong coaching of these sorts of players.
Whoever said Wines, Drew were key in this is absolutely correct. They are the shape keepers. JFH is the bull. Butters cleans up. Rozee is the one who has been squeezed out. The better JHF has gotten, the less relevant Rozee has become.
Lets not forget that Clarry will be on holidays for the next 6-8 weeks, the wheels could well and truly fall off Melbourne here.Feels like us in 2018-19...on the verge of a complete implosion.
Another fun fact - Port only played the top 7 teams once only. All of their double ups were against teams 8th or below. Now of those 6 teams, they only played Geelong and GWS away. All the other 4 teams at home.
Without Houston and Farrell it will be slightly harder.
And I see that they are already making excuses if they don’t have a sellout - price and the time slot..
That's Richmond, but not much bravery there. It will be a brave club that embraces a full rebuild and manages to scoop some alleged quality in the upcoming draft
Here we go, the AFL protection racket to get players out of finals suspensions has begun!
True . In one sense their timing is impeccableThat's Richmond, but not much bravery there.
