I've seen a lot of people become blasé about it now... I liked it better when people didn't come to work or send their kids to school sick.
Unfortunately we can't all stay home when we have the sniffles.

The old Codral ad, "Soldier on".

Why would you go through this public humiliation if you could pay the debt.

I guess in his mindset and belief system he could be using the courts to "prove a point".

Plus Koch said that the only way he would be removed from their Board is through bankruptcy.

Koch basically saying that will happen.

He doesn’t think he’s going through public humiliation, he thinks he’s winning. The below might explain it better.

Fair point.

Given his extreme views, and grip on reality, how can anyone take anything he says seriously now.

Even Football commentary.

Pete Evans, great chef. But no one asks him cookery advice anymore.

So I've caught up on the AFL website - Kane basically boasting that him alerting the umpires to what he believes is a Crows' ducking tactic, saw them umpire "beautifully" by not paying head high tackles to the Crows. "Keane does it every time" I tells ya!

This from a campaigner who played for Port Adelaide Power who perfected the art of flopping and ducking.
Can't wait for the day where this campaigner just f*cks off from all forms of AFL media.
Him and McClure have the most punchable heads.

Pete Evans is a good comparison.

Its a big redemption ark to come out the other side even if the person changes their thinking.

Interesting article. 5 years is enough. Clubs need to be protected from themselves and the AFL should be concerned that if long term contracts blow out further, clubs could come running to the AFL in a decades time to allow some of the salary outside of the cap because the current club shouldnt be penalised for decisions made by people who are no longer there a decade ago.
Who would be crazy enough to offer Harley Reid that much money? He is not the next Chris Judd. He won't be winning the Brownlow next year. He's done nothing yet, other than a few fancy plays that look good on a highlight reel.

Maybe he will become a superstar in time. Maybe playing in the west, for a rabble of a club, is just not working for him. Nobody could argue that coming home did JHF a world of good. Surely West Coast wouldn't be that dumb and would know they are better off letting him go if that's the price to keep him!?

If this was our club, and we'd been perpetual cellar dwellers for the last five years, the absolute last thing I'd want to be doing is paying that sum of money to keep a kid whose output has been rather underwhelming and desire to remain in the state and at the club questionable.

Was reading on the port board he was divorced (there goes 50%), lost his house at Henley etc.

I'd say he's got money, but 200k is still big hit for anyone.

The craziest part is he lost the initial case, but then appealed, which is when the judge ordered him to pay 200k to Nine. If he'd just walked away he would've been fine.

Smartest decision his ex-wife did.

To be fair, if he ended up at say Hawthorn next to Will Day and Jai Newcombe in the middle, look out. We are not seeing Reid at his best right now, but the glimpses he gives tells me he can blow games apart once he gets his consistency and if he were in a better side. If we had the chance to get him, I'd be all over it.

I don't doubt his potential, but would you pay 15 million for ten years? I just think it's way overs. If he was already at his potential, then yes,  maybe. But even then, it's still a no from me.

And that attitude can kill someone. Like I said, I liked it before when people made an effort to keep others safe.

I vaguely recall Pete Evans marketing some neon light type device that was meant to improve your health somehow. And when covid came along I reckon they changed the add to mention that it helped the immune system too.

I have always - and still do - hate long term contracts

But I think we have seen a real change through the Angus Brayshaw contract (and contact)

With the AFL agreeing to the conditions asked by Melbourne we have effectively seen the escape route for clubs

* though I do think this was a special case for the AFL as they rewarded condoned recognised the final concussion incident between Brayshaw and Maynard had potential for further legal compensation

5AA pay plenty, Rowey is on an obscene amount of cash.

Nah not for Tredders. Rowey covers 15 hours of prime time drive during the week. Not even a comparison. Tredders just does one game a week like Rowey also does

Alot about being in radio is how much you can bring in yourself to the station. Rowey brings in heaps of sponsorship and take a cut.

I don't think Port know how to deal with this.

Appearing on FIVEAA radio on Wednesday, Koch suggested the latest developments wouldn’t impact the club’s relationship with Tredrea.

“Like all directors on a board, he’s a volunteer, so he’s not a paid member of staff or on the executive team,” Koch said.
“He’s a really good contributor to board meetings and also the football strategic committee.
“What happens in his private life is up to him, whether you agree with some of the things he says or not doesn’t really matter.
“I’m just interested in how he performs as a director on the Port Adelaide board, and he’s doing pretty well.”

Koch said Tredrea’s views weren’t brought up at board meetings nor had they impacted his ability to serve his responsibilities. “He’s there as a director of a football club, and his input is really valuable,” the Port chairman added.

“It’s a private matter … we’ve got a really diverse board, and every organsation does, and as long as it doesn’t impact their role as a director, it’s really got nothing to do with us.”

I somewhat agree with Koch. The issue between Tredrea and Nine is a private - although publically played out - matter

But it goes to the process Tredrea would be making decisions on - again different thinking helps look at things in a different light

But it also highlights a mindset that refutes facts - it bogs down what should be a simple process

'' Wazza we're gonna appoint this guy ''

' let me do some research '
