Opinion Non-Crows AFL 13: Cyclone Season

It has to be mindset, there’s no best 23 in the AFL, regardless of injuries, that should lose to Eagles at home.

They just have a pretty shit list, losing games to West Coast at home is not that crazy when you look at their 23 today.

I’ve said in the past, I’m not sure that Carr is a good coach. Yes, he won a flag (questionable given the Preliminary controversy) but that North side was not that great.

I think succession plans remove the option to find the best coach available. I’ll also say that although it sounds wonderful that a club legend would become head coach, all fans eventually turn on their coaches because unless you’re successful you’re not going to last and no coach is successful forever so eventually your name will be mud. It’s why I wouldn’t want Goody.

we all know the afl, with its pc media outlook, will crack down on this. i cant see how it doesnt get at least 2 weeks after buckley got one back 20 ish years ago (literally 'right in front of me' on the wing at the G). if a reportable incident caused the blood, then fine, investigate and punish that also but its silly to think xerri wont get weeks here. and i would be very surprised if it isnt 2-3 weeks

Worst time ever and it’s so hard to know, because these beautiful creatures will bear the pain to continue being there for us. But there comes a time when it’s our turn to be there for them because they’ve done all that they can and have nothing more to give.

I sometimes joke that I just wish we’d all go out together in a hail of bullets, it’s not much of a joke, probably because it’s half true. But there’s nothing wrong with leaving no stone unturned either. You’ll get it right and will no doubt shower your great mate with love and attention whilst they’re there with you.

Succession plans are ok in theory where you have a successful senior coach that is transitioning out. Ken to Carr wouldn’t be much different to Nicks to one of his underlings. It was a self-indulgent decision.

First thank you West Coast for lifting the spirits and all the calls for them to get more picks from the AFL are not warranted. They will be fine.

Secondly at least we don't need to listen to the "as soon as Ken is gone this list will truly fly" crap anymore. Port have 0 depth and the players they do have on the park are laughable, Luko is absolutely wank. Thank god he did not come to us, disgusting player.

I agree with this, his win/loss wasn't that great and it was really only one year when they got on a roll in September and won it. It even took a few freakish events to win on Grand Final day.

Id like to know how far into Luko we were. Did we dodge a bullet or were we never really in it. Maybe we only stayed in contention to push up his price knowing we had other targets or maybe we threw everything we had at him.

Remember the days when good quality footy at the start of a season usually lasted a month or so because players were fresh, ovals were fast etc?

This has been the most bog average start to a season in terms of quality football (I'll put our own side up as a contributor). I fear what winter will bring.

It really makes little sense that we were into Luko at all. Why would pay such a high salary and draft pick for a KPP?

Ben Williams is his manager, an SA guy who manages plenty of players across both teams.

Most likly we did him a solid showing "interest" to get more coin for his client.

We didn't have a succession plan and Nick's was not the best option.

Moving on Ken was 100% the right call. It’s just Carr was the wrong choice. If he was going to make an impact he would have made it while he was an assistant. The fact they didn’t even bother to do post and take applicants for the job is madness.

I went to the port vs eagles game today.

thanks man, only someone who has owned a dog and felt the absolute unconditional love and loyalty can fully appreciate it. keeping him alive much longer would now be more for our sake, not his, with his worsening conditions.
