There are people, many people I could list, running around in the AFL industry who have done things eons worse than what Tom Morris did.

Want me to name one right off the bat? How about Marlion Pickett?

How do we arrive at a point where calling someone a lesbian in a group chat, is worse than being an ex-con?

Agree in principle but..

When your job is holding others to account for misdemeanours, you have to expect that you will get a whack if you don’t hold yourself to those same lofty standards.

According to the reporting I've seen, he was sacked on the basis of the first, probably because it was closer to the code of conduct transgression, incorrectly IMO. The colleague was the important factor.

All that was required to sack him was contained in the first recording, it was almost certainly a clearer, easier breach of company conduct, they didn't even need to consider the second.

If the first recording didn't contain direct reference to a colleague the second recording would have delivered the fatal blow

Interesting to know why most footy pundits expect Richmond to get back up the ladder. It is an ageing listcwith reliance on its older players (Cotchin, Martin, Reiwoldt, Lynch).

Reckon they are similar to both Geelong and Port - both are ageing lists that rely on their older players to get them thru but in the end will falter when it counts.

Personally, think Brisbane are in the sweet spot to challenge Melbourne.

He's not going to jail, he just lost his job. A job where he was an on air reporter. The core of that role is having some sort of credibility. If he can't be taken seriously he's worthless. He was a creepy little weasel before - now he's just a joke.

There are two main reasons Fox sacked him - 1) he wouldn't have been able to continue to do his job anyway and 2) both they and the AFL were afraid of the bad PR and potentially losing revenue.
