Obviously my opinion on thinking Taylor walker is a good bloke is my opinion but the reason why is in valid because it’s wrong.

Your reason for not him not having a a state funeral is valid. But you then changed this to no one should have a state funeral, which is also valid, but when you say because the families should get to grieve, that is just wrong because they have to agree to it.
So if they weren’t fine with it they can say no.

it used to be just for state and federal dignitaries - you know, past PMs or Governors etc. somewhere along the way sporting “heroes and legends” and tv personalities started being included as well. Like I said, I think our obsession with these types of people, when there are so many others that achieve great things that never get this recognition, just shows how skewed our priorities are. I’m indifferent to who should be getting the state funerals. However, if a sporting icon is allowed to have one, then Shane definitely deserves it. His impact in our sporting culture is tremendous and he remains relevant post-retirement with his cricketing commentary and regular news headlines (good and bad). I don’t necessarily love the bloke, but respect his contributions to Australian sport and culture.

Indeed kicking wise Matty's not on the same level, he's a level above most of them, Taranto's kicking efficiency thus far in his career is awful.......unless of course you think it will magically improve in by then his 7th season in the season.
