Round one brings out some strange emotions and weird activities, and it would seem that our fearless leader is not immune, given his selection decisions for the round one team.

Every year, the selections of round one and the hysteria following the results, is somewhat ridiculous considering there are 22 more rounds to play out.

It seems that the AFL landscape seems to build up round one as the entire season proper!

Loved pretty much everything about buddy’s 1000th.

The way he handled it, the way the crowd reacted, the way all the players reacted.

I thought the people running out were in the most part respectful and genuinely excited for Buddy. Lots of places in the world that is basically an impossibility. Happy that we can still do it in our society but I would love to see the risk analysis that was done by the AFL … what was the contingency if it started going wrong?

Didn’t see the phones as a big issue, if you want to why not - it’s not hurting anyone. Kind of like religion without the wars and child abuse.

It did make me think that there would be enough footage from every angle to make a pretty accurate 3-d model!!! Anyone got an AI for that?

You ever travelled in the last 10 years? You go to a famous site or monument where in most cases you should be in awe. If you sit back and watch, people arrive, take about 20 photos, maybe take a glance for a few seconds and then move on. You're not actually experiencing anything. You could just stay at home and take a screenshot off Google images.

A similar thing happens at gigs now. Someone's favourite song starts and rather than take it in and immerse themselves, people focus on making sure they're recording it properly (I've regrettably done this before).
