From Caro ...

"I thought there was a smugness about the AFL. They had a brilliant weekend, but that was messy and any excuse to have a crack at Damien Hardwick ... any excuse to pick on Richmond."

:oops::oops::oops:
Lol. Poor old richmond

Did you not read my post? The point is that the difference is not visible if you sit a long way from the screen.
The closer you get to the screen, the more apparent the difference is. I'm not talking it down!

On the other hand, HDR is rubbish, especially on OLEDs, and that's my considered scientific opinion.
The size of the screen also changes things dramatically. If you sit 5m+ away from a 65" screen you may not notice the difference as much between 1080p and 4k. But for an 85" TV you will.

I have a 65" and sit about 2.5m away and the difference between Full HD and 4K is significant.

I also recommend having regular eye tests and updates to your prescription. Did that recently and the quality of my TV display has improved remarkably.
For years I went without glasses. I didn't even know I needed them. Then one day I tried on a mates pair of glasses and the entire world suddenly went HD.

This is exactly right. The common view is that 1080p is sufficient for TVs up to 50-odd inches, but 4K advised for 65" or more.
8K, if any normal program material ever becomes available, would be pointless for anything smaller than 85", I would have thought.

It's all to do with the solid angle subtended at the eye by the screen, and the eye's inherent resolution.

Anyone ever use the split screen option with Kayo?

Can be fun at times during the footy season having two games on at once.

Would love 4k to be available on Kayo on my Sony OLED, but Foxtel will likely keep that exclusive to their full service for awhile yet.
I would hope so! Why should you cheapskates be subsidised by us full-payers? ;)

In any case, if they made it available on Kayo, noone would subscribe to Foxtel: a self-defeating option.

Kayo briefly had available all 4 camera angles for games, so you could have multiple views going at once during some PS games. That didn't last very long though.

I have Kayo for watching the AFL, V8 Supercars, F1 and Cricket. I also used to watch the WRC, but that's another of the sports which are no longer on Foxtel.

If Foxtel loses the AFL, then the other sports don't hold a strong enough attraction for me to justify paying the subscription. I suspect there are a LOT of customers in the same boat - both with Kayo and Foxtel.

The AFL is crucial to their entire business plan. Lose it, and they could easily lose 30-50% of their subscription base almost overnight. For that reason, Foxtel will do virtually anything to ensure that they retain the AFL rights. It's an existential issue for the whole company.
Yeah Foxtel/Kayo are stuffed if they didn't win it.

It is good for NBA/NFL as well.

I haven't watched a game of soccer since they lost EPL.

I was annoyed when they lost Eurosports. I used to enjoy the cycling and snooker. With the soccer going as well, it's getting pretty thin.

I saw one of the best posts ever on social media back when Rankine announced he was coming to Adelaide.

It went something along the lines of (paraphrased)....

"Is anyone really surprised? Both GWS and GC will never be anything more than soulless franchises that no one ever wanted. There's no light at the end of the tunnel, they've been feeder clubs for 10 years and will continue to be for foreseeable future.

This was Vlad's big parting gift to the footy world, two teams that will forever be a burden to the league and nothing more than a money pit that will never be addressed due to the AFL's hubris."
The extra games a round add way more in TV rights than the AFL funding each year.

I am also convinced GWS is a draftee farm side. They get drafted there, get some experience and go home.

Yeah Eurosports was good. Just watch random stuff.

Although I watch less sports stuff now with all the apps we have.

We have 8 streaming apps and still cheaper than what we paid for our Foxtel. A lot more varied content too.

Too much other stuff now.
