The "reasonably forseeable" line is a perfectly lawyered phrase that basically means "we get to make up the outcome we want". They've used it countless times this year.

Much like the 'potential to cause injury' - where they can just make up that the injury would have been severe despite there being no injury, and despite there being no analysis of what injury could have been caused.

I don't see why this is so hard for the AFL, they realised (at the tail end of Selwoods career) that players were ducking into tackles so they tried to get that out by penalising the ducking act as prior opportunity. And I get that we must protect the player trying to win the ball but we can't have players doing what Rozee is doing because it's only going to take being hit slightly wrong and the kid will end up in a chair
Not just him either. The Dogs have been doing it for a while.
It's clear it's being taught as a tactic at some clubs.
The first goal of the Richmond Essendon goal was purely created by the guy picking the ball up and then driving into the player closest.

I think if you initiate the contact, it's holding the ball - unless the player tackling applies excessive force.

Would be kind of amusing if the Tigers interim coach goes on a 14 match winning spree and takes the flag
I'd settle for one win, this week

Even if Hardwick needs an extended break - well-deserved if you ask me - he'll still need a job eventually. He will have the pick of football-related jobs anywhere in Australia: coach, assistant coach, director of coaching or football boss, media, anything he desires. Good luck to the bloke.
How do you know that?..

Hardwick may have made enough money now to support himself for the rest of his life for all we know..

Especially if he has made some astute investments along the way..

He doesn't NEED a job - he's probably got enough money stashed away to live a comfortable retirement now.

But he will almost certainly want to stay involved with the sport, in some form or another, once he recovers from his current feeling of being burned out. He's only 50, and AFL has been his entire life, it's hard to see someone like that just stepping away completely.

Maybe, Mrs Hardwick would have just taken half

I've often wondered how much of that marriage break-up was the result of Richmond spending the 2020 season in the COVID bubble, living at a golf resort on the Gold Coast. I can't help but wonder if being away from home for so long, and in close proximity to club staff, was the catalyst for Hardwick deciding to shack up with Crow.

Maybe things had already started before they went into the Gold Coast bubble, maybe not. I really have no idea. It's just something I've wondered about from time to time.

He doesn't strike me as the type of man to be happy in "a comfortable retirement" in his 50s. Perhaps more to the point - Alexandra might have something to say being cooped up with a restless Dimma 24/7?

I think your hoping for a win as a Moderator first, then a Crows supporter second.

Filthy feral Alberton folk have been visiting us a lot lately.:$

Gary Rohan needing more physio during covid in 2020, is one example.:$

The problem is that the AFL has put the onus 100% on the player standing there. The player bent over has no responsibility to protect themselves. They should. Instead they drive forwards with their head down trying to make contact so they draw a free kick. It's mental.

Besides, Rozee plays dead about 5 times a game. He will try to draw a head high contact by initiating the contact, throw his head back and collapse onto the ground like he's been knocked out cold. Only to jump up moments later once the free kick has been secured.
Players need to learn to tackle the hips.

The higher up the body you go, more risk of the guy being tackled milking high contact.

Tackle low and hard.

Yes and no. "Low and hard" is right.
Tackling the hips without pinning the arms, or one arm, leaves the ball-holder open to handball.

Tackle the hips low and hard; aim for the elbows if possible.

The Crows' "tackling" on Saturday was pyssweak, half-hearted.
They looked slow, too. Walker said "flat' --- maybe they had one too many hard sessions with Burgo?

Surely the smart play for Dimma is to take a leaf out of Paul Roos book. Spend a few years living a chilled out life in the media before getting parachuted into a failed rebuild for big money.

I suspect you're on the money with this

I remember hearing somewhere that the last deal he signed was well under his worth (I think about 750k) and he willingly took the hit so that they would have money available in their soft cap for quality assistants.

That to me suggests that he's most probably more than comfortable financially.

Nah.. the best and most effective tackles are the ones around the waste/stomach that also grab and hold one arm..

Cant get done for too high or too low and the player in possesion struggles to dispose of the ball.

So sick of our pathetic tackling this year.. so many missed and broken tackles or tackles that result in the opponent having their arms free and simply handballing off to a team mate.. even in the games we’ve won our tackling hasnt been the greatest.

It’s not necessarily the ones you make it’s more the ones you miss

Why are we even speculating as if there’s some vague possibility he isn’t very rich.

There isn’t.

He’s very rich.

You're surely not suggesting that we go all Hopoate are you? ;)
