A blast from the past indeed. Started his career in 1957 with Prahran in the VFA--the mighty double blues. I was going to Prahran games at that time, but can't remember him.

In my Modra - This great century video Freddie Phyllis talks about Modra being one of kind but mentions Ken Whelan being as close as you can get to a Modra Clone of players who had come through the sANFL.

Norwood’s premiership hopes have been dealt a crushing blow after star ruckman Harry Boyd was ruled out for up to 12 weeks with an injury much worse than first thought.

Norwood’s SANFL premiership hopes have suffered a major blow, with star ruckman Harry Boyd expected to be sidelined for more than half the season with a bad wrist injury.
After initially being diagnosed with a sprained left wrist after he pulled up sore from the Round 2 clash against Glenelg at the Bay, an MRI scan revealed Boyd’s injury was far worse than first feared.

The scan showed Boyd – the 2024 joint Magarey Medallist and 2022 Jack Oatey Medallist – had ruptured the scapholunate ligament, while also uncovering some minor bone fractures.

Arguably the SANFL’s most influential player after his return to The Parade this season following a one-year stint at AFL club St Kilda, Boyd underwent surgery late last week to re-align the scaphoid and lunate bones.

He is expected to be sidelined for 10 to 12 weeks.
