Not playing finals from 2002-12 inclusive a factor as they had a longer list build giving them more depth of talent

Our ability to bounce back quickly after poor periods is good but we’ve not had a history of long periods of high draft picks which means we don’t stay in contention as long

This build will be different as we’ve already had 3 years outside finals and are at least 2 years from returning, probably longer
Not really sure if this argument makes sense. Not many of the draft picks Richmond got from 2002-2005 were a part of their dynasty (if any?). They drafted the core of their premiership team around the same time we did ours 2007-2012 with the exception of riewoldt (2006). I think the longevity of their success was more down to free agency / recruitment (lynch, prestia, nank, houli), being an MCG tenant team, and the Dusty factor.
