Also, given that it's Mark Stevens, I'd treat it with caution for the time being. The bloke is nearly as entrenched in the gutter as Barrett and Ralph.

Since I'm already stealing from The Thick of It in another thread, might as well do so here: Stevens is about as connected as a kibbutz. At least Barrett and Ralph know what's happening in the gutter.

I'm not sure I believe that was really the case. They might have said it publicly but internally I suspect there was concern about the off field stuff, especially after he went on a bender just before the PSD. I can't believe that every draft watcher in the country had him in their top 10 on skills but our coaches thought his skills were not worth drafting him for.

I didn't mean that our coaches didn't think he was skillful. Just over rated.

I don't think that either of us can be sure that every draft watcher in the country rated him a top 10 pick either.

Hawks are right to give Gartlett time. Reading between the lines it appears that the Hawks wanted Garlett to reach a certain level of conditioning, hence him not being selected for NAB Challenge games.

Worsfold joins Laws of the Game committee

WEST Coast premiership coach John Worsfold is one of four additions to a revamped AFL Laws of the Game committee.

Collingwood premiership player Michael Christian, umpiring director Wayne Campbell and umpire's coach Hayden Kennedy are the other new members of the committee.

The quartet replace the retiring Kevin Bartlett, Jeff Gieschen and Rowan Sawers, as well as Peter Schwab – who now works as the head of coaching and development at the Brisbane Lions.

AFL football operations Mark Evans thanked Bartlett, Sawers, Gieschen and Schwab for their service to the committee.

"On behalf of the AFL, I wish to sincerely thank Kevin, Jeff, Rowan and Peter for their enormous contribution to the discussions around the laws process," Evans said.

The laws committee consists of Evans (chairman), Worsfold, Christian, Campbell, Kennedy, Joel Bowden, Brett Burton, Rodney Eade, Tom Harley, Leigh Matthews, Michael Sexton and Beau Waters.

Meanwhile, Richmond champion Matthew Richardson has joined the All Australian selection committee.
