Vickery will be a good player at Hawthorn in the same way Ceglar turned out to be. The bloke has ability.

Add to this, that he is already a 35 goal a year forward. He doesn't have to become Roughead to be a success.

He just needs to slightly improve his output. It's almost certain to happen when he is playing a role in the best system in the AFL.

He can kick his 30 and be a relief ruck or he can kick 2 goals a game as a permanent forward and that is a massive success (especially when the Hawks already have Gunston, Cyril, Breust, Sicily and O'Brien). It's far from a quantum leap for Vickery to achieve either of those outcomes.

Yep
Comes in and Sicily and Gunston can start playing mid-size, mobile forward roles
Poppy and Cyril as the smalls.
A year without Cegs means he relief rucks with McEvoy.
Smart move for them. Esp if cheap.

:S
why?

Even with Lycett and NN down for 2017, play Giles ffs.

Giles would struggle to solo ruck for a full season. They need depth for if he goes down and they need help in the ruck with a forward ruck swing.

Drew wouldn't cost them anything and would be purely backup/role player.

Can he still ruck though?
Plenty of journeyman backup options out there for cheap who would be better
Lowden & Currie spring to mind

This is the one I was talking about

So that's two incidents - There was definitely one in the Preliminary Final - Then again if you run/jump at a player from 5 or 10 metres away, there is always a chance, that player can avoid contact.

the other week stats in afl briefly came up in here and this article essentially sums up the major issue: https://thearcfooty.com/2016/09/05/the-afl-needs-to-go-beyond-the-box-score/
Good article. I wonder if part of the motivation is to maintain a monopoly on the analysis in the media. You could easily imagine that the AFL's own media as well as the other major outlets would lose a lot of readers if some of the undoubtedly very good analysts outside of the media had access to the same information the big players in the media have.

Without a doubt it's the main motivation.

The Eagles will only need Petrie for 1 year plus it will cost them nothing to get him.

I think it's a good move by WC.
I seriously doubt it will happen. Petrie is cooked.

Sadly for everyone (except the obvious), that wasn't one of Bomber's better days. Leaving an injured Stokes on Hodge was a hideous mistake.

I always felt the exclusion of Wojo cost them the cup.

Cloke to Dogs for 2 years done.

It actually makes a lot of sense. Whether you agree with the original contract or not, they now have Tom Boyd struggling as a Bulldog. The return of Crameri from suspension, as well as a high-profile recruit such as Cloke coming over, will help not only ease the burden of kicking goals, but reduce the glare of the spotlight a fair bit too.

Unless he continues to completely shit truck it.
