Yep this year is just not going our way.

It's all good but still bloody annoying.

Still a very weak top 8 bar two teams , I still think it’s gettable but our form really needs to pick up

Might not happen but it’s achievable this year imo

It's infuriating.

I'm trying to think of some of the worst finalists from previous seasons and I can't come up with any team as bad as this. I suppose maybe the 2013 Carlton team, since they technically finished 9th and only made finals due to Essendon's cheating. But even that team's ceiling was higher than this Saints team.

Yep, they are terrible but had that great start and a ridiculously easy fixture list overall. Their form since about round 8 has been terrible, really no better than a side like Hawthorn.

The one shining light is that if we somehow climb to 5th, wouldn't an EF against St Kilda be tasty?

We needed someone to perform this sophisticated analysis after the tantrums about losing a close one at the Gabba, while other sides played cannon fodder.

They could conceivably lose all 5 of their reminding games. I would like to think we will finish above them and they won't make the 8.

I remember a few Essendon and North teams who fell into 8th place and got obliterated in their first final.

You can't really say that Blues team was that bad given they beat 5th by 20 points and were competitive against the Swans the following week.

Essendon have had some shockers in recent years. 2009 they made 8th with 10 wins, not really convincing anyone, and got obliterated by 96 points in an EF. 2 years later they almost repeated the feat again. Some years you get the distinct feeling that 8th have just sort of slipped in and don't really belong, and that usually become apparent during finals.

Well done to the AFL - rule changes they brought in - and for mine made AFL alot better to watch - as a result im watching alot more neutral games than i have for along time

This week Coll v Carl WB v GWS Ade v Pt Ade Melb v Rich

They are all good games to look forward to - and very important games

Absolutely. And this is why 'wildcard round' will be a fantastic addition to the football calendar and is long overdue.
