IIRC I think a while ago the Scottish League wanted to bring in post game reviews that would penalise diving, FIFA vetoed it. A lot of supporters/Leagues around the world look on diving as a skill eg Italy, Spain, South American Leagues.

If AFL players ever went in for en masse over the top theatrics of the soccer players it would be one of the very few things that would turn me off the game.

Hawthorn obviously train for it.

And Zac Bailey is getting a reputation for lowering his head, and leading with his head.

I wish they’d do that in the AFL. I absolutely hate staging. The game is hard enough to umpire as it is without these guys faking contact and “drawing” high free kicks.

Yep, prefer a Bulldogs win, we have to back ourselves to win the 3 out of 4 games which would likely get us top 4.

The conundrum about us is the number of good teams we've beaten up on who've then gone on to beat up on other good teams.

And then the poor performances we've put in against lesser teams.

I don't know about anyone else, but I find the game to be in absolute terrible state these days and i barely find any enjoyment in watching any games other than the lions. 5 or 6 years ago, i would watch most games, but it just doesn't feel as good anymore.

This game is chock full of interest.

A pet hate of mine is the goal umpire putting themselves right up against the post or in the field of play just for the theatre of it.

The majority of the time it completely distorts their judgement.

But this is the AFL isn't it.

Don't know whether it qualifies as diving but I watched Watson of Hawthorn the other week.He was about take possession but sensed he was about to be tackled.
Before he was touched he was heading to the ground,no attempt to take possession.Drew a free kick,no idea why,goal followed.
