I want a Rayner vs O'Connor vs Crowd encore. It deserves a second take on the biggest stage and deserves to get closure in this season itself.

So - my preference is for Cats and us to win through.

The difference in the GF is Rayner can deck him without risking his premiership medal… only risks a longer off-season.

I feel that is much less likely than the reverse.

I don't trust that we will beat Hawthorn a third time in a row. Look at Geelong. We had the wood on them for the last 2 games, but they learned from their mistakes and smashed us in the first final. I feel like playing Hawthorn for a third time in one season would be more dangerous given they would likely do the same.

We play better when there is a point to prove type games. Something to focus on and whatever issues we had last time - how to address it. On that note, playing Pies in a final after 2023 grand final result is a great motivator. There'll be a lot of focus on how to make amends this time around.

Similarly playing Cats would give added motivation for both players and coaching group to see how they can turn around the last result. 3 taggers in Atkins, Mullin and O'Connor is pretty unusual formula that we were not prepared for - I'm sure even Chris Fagan, Dew and coaching panel would love another crack at it.

I still think Geelong will win this. Well.. maybe. But Fagan said it best last year. You need to be match hardened by the prelim, and Geelong has had too many days off to be that. They may catch up, but it could be too late for them.
