Good post.
I'm a firm believer that North shouldn't have gone half hearted into Sydney in the late 90s. They were the best team in the comp and had the best and most marketable player in the league on their list. They should have gone all out. Support would be dropping off now but with fin support from the AFL they would be 1/3 of the way to being a much more sustainable club than they are now.
Winners and franchise players attract new fans and supporters. They had a golden opportunity. If they make it through this next lean patch let's hope they take advantage of their next golden era and take the relocation plunge. They're just going around in circles and given that it becomes increasingly harder to financially stay afloat in the AFL juggernaut, sooner or later they should bite the bullet.
I agree with that. They would have had Wayne Carey as their marketing ploy and backing from the AFL if they went to Sydney full time. But now they should go to the Gold Coast and possibly use one of their youngsters like Daniel Wells as a marketable player. They would have all the backing from the AFL and the gaurantee that they won't fold in the short term. It will only be a win-win situation for the club, financially and a place that they can call home.
