The AFL Kangaroos shown to be finals pretenders, yet again *MB Thread*

Every time they play a contender, they not only lose but they get smacked.

So Brad Scott, how are you going to play DEEP into the finals, as you keep telling us you will?

He really is the king of spin...

Re: North shown to be finals pretenders, yet again

Norf were very good till halftime, to many kids in the second half to keep the effort up.

Look out for them in years to come, very young list with a massive amount of upside.

Re: North shown to be finals pretenders, yet again

Losses to Collingwood by 66, Geelong by 35, St Kilda by 104, Western Bulldogs by 70 & 71, Fremantle by 61 & Sydney by 40 and 30 just underline their fragility when playing anybody of significant class.

Not too surprising... we all knew they were just a side. That loss to Essendon could prove very costly (damn). Although they're still whinging and moaning about the umpiring last week... the whole world is just always against North, isn't it?

They love to boast about their young players but they are just on par or below most of the other teams in the competition as we've seen so far this year. Will be lucky to win another game this year.

i agree. Just couldnt keep up with the bulldogs as they are too young but good to halftime.

not ready for finals yet but good that the team and the coach aimed to play finals. would it be better if the coach said he wanted to miss the finals?

adams, cunnington, wright and greeenwood are good young players. this team will be really good in a couple of years.

Not to mention players missing like Liam Anthony and Jack Ziebell... massive upside and a good coach

Re: North shown to be finals pretenders, yet again

Year in, year out, the same old story with this pathetic rabble, wish the AFL would just hurry up and put them down.

Re: North shown to be finals pretenders, yet again

Must have nailed a girl he'd been trying to date for two years.

Have you actually got this quote about North 'definitely making top four'? Or aiming to go deep into the finals?

Re: North shown to be finals pretenders, yet again

Essendon are s**t.

Brilliant reply in typical north supporter fashion, deflection.

At least we can beat contenders and non contenders like yourselves...

Of course we will always be in the league also...

Re: North shown to be finals pretenders, yet again

Don't sink to the level of the s**t Norf posters.

Re: North shown to be finals pretenders, yet again

Let's face it, there's only ever 5, maybe 6 teams each year who can even hope to win a flag, the rest make up the numbers. Adding another 2 teams to the competition is really going to help the standard ... NOT.

Mind you, North played a team who look very happy today, as they were last week. I wonder what it was that made them so happy all of a sudden .....

Bay 13 standard.

Who would have thought a 70 point loss would have invoked so much anger?

Take lie down lads, there is a world outside BigFooty. :thumbsu:

Re: North shown to be finals pretenders, yet again

North are a young side with a large injury list, Bulldogs are a top 4 side in red hot form. The result isn't really a surprise.

"But we're four and six and very much working hard to get back on level pegging. We're still aspiring to play deep into September."

Given the poor showing against Freo came after a 12-goal thumping from the Western Bulldogs, Scott says all his players are on notice that they need to improve.
It's something that we won't stand for. It's something we've got to address this week."

But it has been a constant all year.

Play a contender, get smacked silly.

So how do you play DEEP into september when you won't make it and get smacked by those that will be there?

MB Reply:
North are clearly having a development year; it is the first year under a new coach so the gameplan is probably only just becoming second nature to the players, they have the nucleaus of a very good midfield (very impressed with young Adams), and they have been hit hard by injury. Brad Scott has more than achieved a passmark on 2010's efforts.

Bay 13 reply:
Maybe if Norf attacked the ball half as hard as they attack the man in their constant sniping efforts, they'd stop getting flogged by any team that approaches half-decent status.
