Pity your not on the Port Power trading committee. :)
Not sure we have anyone I would consider trading for Bock.
By that I mean 190+ type players.
Forgetting the established ones, we only have Thurstans, White, Chaplin, Pettigrew and Gilham to trade.
At this point in time, Thurstans and White are the most developed (first drop so to speak) and hence untouchables, Chaplin, Pettigrew and also Gilham deserve a try, so no thanks just yet.
However, (here it comes), I think people on here are too quick to declare champions, and too quick to change minds and declare players duds.
Bock has shown a bit, but soon got found out, like just about all new players that get given ridiculous responsibilities too early do, and at times he was a fish out of water.
This year will tell with Bock, and by next year should start producing. He needs to get stronger, be more familiar with his "required duty"/position in the team, and get confidence. He also needs to gather experience around the ground in different positions this year.
Tredrea kicked his arse? I recall people on here declaring Carey to be back to his best just because he did the same thing Vs Freo. Not that hard for a seasoned campaigners to expose novices.
IMO he will turn out OK. Not too sure about forward or back at this stage.

Here comes the usual disclaimer: This view is based on only a few games that I have seen, but IMO I have seen enough to stick my neck out.

Good post and I agree with your comments, not only on Bock but at the huge expectations some supporters place on a young man playing his initial season in AFL.

We'll get a far better idea this year whether he's going to make it or not.

Very well thought through PA but as at this moment it still doesn't change my opinion of Bock although as i have said on many occasions in the past i'm always willing & able to eat humble pie.

Never been one to label a young unproven gun as a champion based purely on potential & to me "champion" is a word used far to easily & must be earned over a period of time.

Of the ones you have mentioned up above only White strikes a chord, not too keen on Thurstons & never seen the other 3 play.

Excellent post. Change "Bock" to "just about any 10-25 game player who hasn't shown instant promise" and your words can apply across the league.

I'm hoping he'll do the number 44 proud.

that's enough pale ale for you Kane. enjoy the cricket.
The cricket was great Mitch, particularly Lara's innings & acceleration ... though we could only drink Toohey's New, which is even worse than West End Draught!
