It was always ultra ambitious goal for the boys , but based on the Port lose and todays game, we will have to wait at least another year before we see finals.

They have definitely moved in the right direction and i think we are on track to do it net year - but in 2011 we wont be seeing finals.

If I see another chance to anticipate a way into the finals then I will stab myself with a fork until I put it out of my mind and remind myself that we are not making the finals this year.

Im almost angry with myself for getting my hopes up for a finals berth when I should have known better.

Ill settle for putting a fork into Essendon in two weeks time and see that as our Grand Final.

We are on track, but so is the packed train home from work which is full of comuters with rampant BO that stops at all stations and stops for five minutes for no reason.

Feeling this loss. At least Dusty didnt get a season ending injury.

At least our poor games this year are a 10-30 point loss(even a win against Bris). Last year we would've lost by 60+ against Melbourne.
Had Melbourne converted in the 3rd quarter instead of kicking 10 behinds it would have been a 60 point loss.

I'm not completly devastated by this. I'm sure most of you thought at the start of the year that we were still about 12 months off finals and it looks like it will end up that way. We hung in there today, but just not good enough. I think I'd rather have them get in next year similarly to how West Coast (optimistic, yes) are playing this year, then to just have them fall in because no one else was good enough...

If we had kicked straight in the first 10 minutes of the game and made the most of our opportunities we may have won the game.
Works both ways

I'm the same...but hey we're Tiger fans, pathologically optimisitic since 1980.:o

I think the biggest worry for us is - ven though we are heading in the right direction, several other clubs seem closer or more advanced. Carlton, Hawthorn, West Coast, Melbourne & Sydney all look to be heading in the right direction - and i can't really see Collingwood & Geelong falling away dramatically any time soon either.

We are sitting in with the next back with Essendon, Fremantle & the 2 teams that look to be going through some sort of transitional period, the dogs & saints, who both have quite strong list and probably only need one really good draft of quality kids to move back up again. North are also on the cusp of this group.

I still worry that we will be able to develop quicker and better than these other teams to surpass them. We are heading in the right direction, but bar a few teams - everyone looks to be in the same boat.

Plus they had kicked 8-1 at one stage (with the 1 a rushed behind)? Always evens out to some extent.

There is a heap to do defensively.I love Martin offensively but he usually jogs when chasing players.Hasnt got the tank yet but we often get caught out with our defensive running.Melbourne killed us with their transition.
Another irritating thing for me is the weak or half-hearted shepherding attempts yesterday.Grigg was a big offender and Rance did a couple of shockers. With a body like his, should be knocking them over.
Finals no guarantee next year.

Since our 157 pt drubbing in 2007 I was keen to see how our floggings have taken place. I might have missed a few but im looking at 75+ pts.

`07 - 157 pt Geelong.
`08 - None.
`09 - 92 pts Pies, 83 pts Tankers, 80 pts Eagles
`10 - 108 pts Cats, 89 pts Tankers, 82 pts Pies. 72 pts Dogs
`11 - 71 pts Pies.

`09 Was a very unstable year and can be expected.
`10 with such change and transition was also expected.

Great to see so far this year 71 our worst against the reigning Premiers, and that was a positive game as in the 3rd quarter we were the first team in 17 games to beat Collingwood’s press and win contested ball, and we even out scored them by 24 points.

Even this year we have won 8 last halves and lost 5. Out of the five we have lost, we won the 3rd qtr against the Pies and the last qtr against Port. Even Saturday against the Dees we won the last half and last qtr (3rd was a draw)

It shows a steely resolve and a unit who wont give up. For the first time in years and years we are playing as a team.

Thanks for that, I had only just got that out of my head. :p

who cares !!!!

We are in the business of winning premierships!!

Why bother making finals if you are not capable of winning the premiership???

We need to raise the bar and say not for a little while we won't win a premiership but we are not far away!!!!

How many teams have won a flag from being outside the 8 the year before?

I understand that!

People say players want to play in finals.

The truth is they want to play in finals and win and the bottom line is they want to win the lot.

All that is needed is patience and belief. Don't be afraid to aim high, premiership is the goal and as you said, if that happens , reaching finals will take care of itself in the premiership pursuit!!

still plenty of footy to be played yet, one thing I will object to is some mongs in the media that suggest RFC supporters would be pretty hapy if we didnt win another game. i'll go on the record as saying id be ready to raze the joint if that would occur, call an extraordinary meeting and support a wave of sackings. i might be crazy but my success/failure barometer is set a little higher than what some ouside commentators might think is a GOOD year:o

Don't shoot the messenger but 2012 isn't looking too good either. :(

i tend to agree, the tiggers are so middle of the pack right now. capable of good spurts of football but no consistency.

until we sure up the KPP stocks we will struggle next year, there is a gaping hole at CHF, CHB and the ruck.

so many teams have over taken the tiges and this frustrates me no end, why should WCE just jump from last to top 4?? the older players may have some say in it but there is no way cox and kerr are worth 5 extra wins in a season...
