Yeah me too. I joined in September 1954.

I was two years old then, so I guess technically I could have seen both Premierships. Hopefully three by my 75th.Yeah me too. I joined in September 1954.

Those poor ghost accounts now missing out on their trophies. The 15 year trophy was set incorrectly so it was awarded to people who HAD NOT VISITED BigFooty for 15 years. It's the checkbox below the one to award for being a member for 15 years.

We 25-year veterans should get a free premium membership.Bill Gates is due to give my username a 25-year recognition award next year. I hope I don't have to wait an extra nine years to receive it.
7 day break for us, anything earlier and we would be significantly disadvantaged compared to Freo who play on the Friday night the week before.Anyone else really bummed with the fixture for R24?

Nope. I mentioned in another thread, how we normally play pretty poorly post byes. And that the pre finals bye disrupts the momentum of any teams riding a wave. The less of a break between our final game, and our first final, the better in my opinion. Rather not play Thursday night, and then have our next game in 16-17 days.Anyone else really bummed with the fixture for R24?

The Everton team of the mid-late 80’s was a very good team. Luckily my United team stopped them winning the double in 1985.A rare moment of reflection from me.
I grew up in England being a devout Everton fan. Pretty shit team the entire time I’ve supported them unfortunately. One cup win in 1995 and very little else to shout about. Over the years I’ve often wondered what it would be like supporting a more successful club. What would that be like knowing your team is more than likely going to win each week? Would that make me a happier person being that my weekends wouldn’t be repeatedly ruined by eleven millionaires who largely don’t give a toss about a club that means so much to me?
Moving to Melbourne in 2014 and succumbing to watching what I thought was the scrappiest sport on earth, I could have probably saved myself a lot of grief by going for Geelong or something. That wasn’t to be. A chance encounter with Bevo at Footscray train station handing out free tickets to my wife for the opening game of the 2015 season set us both on a path to becoming mad Dogs fans.
2015 was a truly great season. Aside from the fact I didn’t understand the rules for the first half of it, we had an absolute ball watching this plucky underdog really take the game on.
2016 and I didn’t have to wait long did I. These poor old sods who didn’t see a flag for 50+ years and I witness one in my second season. The Grand Final itself was obviously the crowning glory, but the trip to Spotless for the Prelim will go down as the best sporting event I have been a part of.
Anyway, onto my point. What do we supporters get out of it? If Everton had a good year they might get the chance to sign some better players. That might increase my enjoyment levels when I go to the game each week. With AFL and the draft system, it doesn’t always work the same way, but we all hope that year on year the playing list gets better and better. Imagine turning up to the games to see generational talents in the prime of their career pull on your teams colours week in week out.
And that’s where we are. I rewatched last week’s GWS game last night and it really struck me how lucky I am to be following this team right now. The season has been far from perfect. We may even miss out on the 8, but I think we have to occasionally take a step back and appreciate what we do have. I can’t list them all but watching Darcy & Naughton the last two weeks has been an absolute joy. Ed Richards has been the highest rated player in the competition most of the year. Bont is God. Bailey Dale is the most exciting halfback around. West has turned into a top quality small forward. Turning up every week to watch these guys is an absolute pleasure and I, for one, am reminding myself to not take it for granted.
Now bring home the flag or I’m done.
They were, mate. Born in 85 so too young to have enjoyed any of it, sadly. The Everton team of the mid-late 80’s was a very good team. Luckily my United team stopped them winning the double in 1985.
Dogs 13, to not take the Jamarra thread off topic, could you please share a summary of what the HUN was saying about Aidan O’Driscollj?
