Was hoping for Armitage to take 14, as he's the same type of player as Luke Ball. But Geary's a more than worthwhile recipient. Hope he does well. We probably forget that he played the first 12-13 games of the season and showed some great signs and awesome running goals.

Giving CJ #4 is just...well, it requires none other than Sam Kekovich's famous phrase; 'you know it makes sense'.

And jeez, they must be hoping/expecting big things from Jack to give him the #3 off the back of 1 senior game. Excited much.

And I would have rathered Zac take 8, or stay with 43. Not too familiar with any St Kilda all time great #6's. So hopefully he can make it his own! Upon reading a little more, it seems I fail at life in regards to knowing who's donned the number 6. Still, those names don't mean much to me. Hopefully he can give it a better run than Heath Black and Leigh Fisher!

I was one off on Smith and Patto as I thought they'd give Peake the vacant 17 seeing as though he would probably be playing alot sooner than Elvis.

And yeah, fair enough. I like it. Smart idea making both the premiership full backs in our club have the number 6.

A more recent #6 that was a very good player for the club was David Grant (80s-90s).

I agree with CHBench about Jack Steven getting the #3. You don't award somebody that number unless you have a lot of faith in them. It's one thing for all of us to rate the kid but he's obviously rated internally as well.

Going with similar logic paul maybe Armitage was given #20 with Travis Payze in mind[wore #31 in'66 i think] or former captain Stan Lloyd [1934-1942] or perhaps Jim Ross ,3 times B and F FROM 1946-1954.
Personally don't think a number means too much to a players chances of success or otherwise.but hope Armo can ''bring respect back to the jumper number''.

Obviously whether a player succeeds or not is irrelevant to his jumper number but since you mentioned it, Armitage is not that dissimilar to Payze (I hope he can kick better!). I really don't know if its just chance, or whether players are sometimes given numbers because they're in some way similar to a player who previously wore that number.
