I get what you’re saying but flip the question what tells you in Berrys performances that this ISNT his standard/level?

When I look at it like that it’s harder to see how he will be worth the price tbh

Drafted as a small forward in the Robbie mould of forward/mid struggled

Moved to high half forward because this^ wasn’t working out great struggled

Now we are down to experiments at half back and 7 touch no influence games

It’s a concern no matter how young or inexperienced he is
yeah i agree its a concern, lets just see what he can show in the backend of the season/2026.

im concenrved but not ready to rule a line through him

Every team has there ITKs, and I assume Port does as well, what is the talk?

We have a very solid ITK who said couple weeks ago that Nas was staying, but things can change.
we have C4, a Carlton supporter from their board who ussaly gives us his information

its reliable 99% of the time

he has said nas is undecided.

If Nas hasn't signed by now i think he has made up his mind to come home. If so he isn't undecided he just needs to wait until St kildas season is over to announce it, no player is announcing anything while the season is still going

To be fair this is his 4th season and he is guaranteed to make it this year. Give the man a chance🤣

His rate of improvement each year has been exceptional. Once he is full time mid, he will go up another level again. Already gets it 30 times a week and is very damaging.

If he leaves we will be getting massive unders. Will make 6 All Australian squads by the time he is done.
Nothing is truer than you will get unders every time a decent out of contract player is traded.

What would you put on the table for Bergman if he’d have nominated the Saints?

All you can do is not get ridiculously unders and that doesn’t happen often.

Dunkley wasn't contracted and still generated pick 21, future 1st, future 2nd and a future 4th round in an uncompromised draft.

No doubt Port would be asking for our first rounder had he requested a trade to us. I have not seen enough of him to make an informed decision, but would have thought a top 5 pick seems steep.

Wouldn't have been against offering next year's 1st.

With 2 future 3rds coming back which is the equivalent of a poor future 2nd and a poor future 4th.

So really pick 21 and a future 1st of a team that finished top 4 in the past 3 seasons in a row.

2 x picks in the 20’s isn’t really much even though 1sts on paper sound good.

Pick 21 + a likely future pick 14-18 which was likely to be pushed out to 20+ isn’t really that much .

If st kilda don’t want our two future firsts. Couldnt we just trade them for our pick back from Gold Coast, then offer the one top 10 pick this year?

If they don’t take it, we tell them to **** off and take him in the psd/nd where his manager will tell all other clubs to **** off (like Bailey Smith last year).

Nas is an absolute star and he will only get better. However, the thing that drives us nuts at times is he will turn the ball over a few times a game with terrible kicks or he will take the game on (being too cute) and get caught. These things he will iron out with experience.
Glad experience will iron it out. Let's give Boaky another 10 years.

We gave up a first rounder and pick 39 for Rory Atkins (plus Lukosius as a salary dump). Shouldn't take much more than that you wouldn’t think

Like most gun players. Not infallible.

If we can’t trade future 1sts as some have been saying, how do we get it done?

Kidnapping is an option.

Oh no, are Victoria Police coming after me now?

I think it's fraught with danger to presume anything at this stage.

Barely 2 weeks ago Port were completely up in the air as to Bergman's intentions. I was told not too long before he made his decision to re-sign, that the Club knew they had done everything possible to keep him, but also knew it was a 50/50 type of decision.

There are so many variables with any contract negotiation that is is nigh on impossible to be sure of anything without being directly involved in the negotiations themselves.

This of course leaves for infinite speculation, where the media and fans alike try to fill in the knowledge gap, almost always to suit their version of events.

there is still a part of me, that while i’m very happy he is staying does think - will he suddenly just decide he’s here long term or is he always going to be one that we are always 50/50 on each contract year.

in a perfect world, we somehow manage to get Nas over the line (i still struggle to see how) and Bergs makes the call to commit long term. the flip side is we don’t find the capital for Nas, Crows walk in and make a deal and Betgs 1yo the down the track decides to leave and we start again.

Except he doesn’t want to go the organisation which was born in a court room. If he comes home it will to Port.

Until Bergman signs a long term extension, that 50/50 feeling will pretty much remain.

NWM won't commit to Port if there isn't a strong inclination that Port can get a deal done. We saw a similar situation with JHF, whereby the media didn't break the news of his intention to leave North for Port until Cripps and Rawlings had thrashed out the basic parameters of a deal.
