This page has so much discussion, because whether you like it or not, list management has more impact than any other part of the football program on whether non-Vic teams win flags.

Non-Vic teams have to get everything perfect list wise before they can even challenge for a flag. Outside of amalgamations, COLA, when teams first entering the leagues and their lists were primed, now Northern academies, the only non-Vic team to win flags was West Coast in 2006 and 2018.

You could argue last year Brisbane had the advantages of Northern Academies (Harris Andrew’s and Hipwood) and a priority pick which eventually got them Charlie Cameron.

Also you add to the advantages Vic clubs have had for father-sons over the years to build their lists, like Geelong. And don’t get me started on priority picks and how they gave teams like Hawthorn an extra couple of stars, in their flag wins.

Finally filling holes in lists when getting close to winning a flag, is so much harder as a non-Vic side, with Vic sides having a huge pool of players (with go home factor) to choose from.

Anyway, just the idea of getting NWM, has more impact on our flag chances then the day to day coaching and current players, which is why this and the JHF thread went bananas.

I mean what else is there to talk about now? It’s not like John Butcher is in the side anymore…?
This thread has a lot of “the million page JHF thread on the Camries’ board” vibes about it at the moment, is all I’m saying.

Would’ve thought we’d at least waited until a time where NWM comes out and formally requests a trade to Port, otherwise it seems very premature to be debating the nuances of what a potential deal would look like for 80+ pages.

I get the entire purpose of this forum is for us nuffies to kill time overthinking and overanalysing everything to do with footy, and the prospect of NWM joining the club is a rare bright spot in an otherwise terrible season so people want to talk about - but it seems a bit early for people to have got into the “supporters haggling with each other over trade value as if they’re a list manager and have any actual insight or input in the process” discourse on this one.

6.8 contestant possession and 18.1 uncontestant possession average this season. By far the highest receiver from teammates in stkilda.

Since we already have Rozzee at the back and Butters in the middle as good users and popular receivers, we could see his possession halve if he moves here.

Good point by those who mentioned it earlier - his value to us may be a fair bit less than we are expecting.

Its a fair point, with Houston experience a similar situation at the Pies.

But if he plays half back, Nas would become our go to, so those possession numbers potentially go up, not down.

If we do somehow land him (still unlikely IMO - no inside knowledge, just jaded by years of watching the current regime piss away opportunities), I'd move Rozee forward, pinch hitting on ball...

Richmond had those too. In the same year as Hawthorn as well. Just didn't select as well.

As did Collingwood, Carlton, Saint Kilda and Melbourne if I am not mistaken. Funny that the rug was pulled just when non-Vic clubs looked poised to benefit...

I'm going to get in and out quickly on this one.
If there is a thread on the Port Adelaide Forum that I fundamentally disagree with, I don't click the thread.
I allow those people who want to talk on that subject in peace.
I don't go into that thread like a sanctimonious w@nker and post telling them why the thread shouldn't exist and why the people on the thread are terrible people.
And I especially wouldn't do that to a thread related to Port Adelaide, players, the team, performance, list management, etc, which is the rasion d'etre of the forum itself.

The topic is being discussed continually in the 24/7 AFL news cycle, it's not like we invented the discussion.

If the topic did not have its own thread (and it was deliberately titled neutrally), the List Management thread would be 80+ pages and counting longer and any more general or alternative speculative discussion in there would be lost.

The simple solution is, if you don't like it, don't look at the discussion. But the fact it's over 80 pages long suggests people do want to talk comprehensively about this specific topic. And fair play to Saints fans, the discussion has been largely respectful.

The Jared Polec thread back in the day was an absolute dumpster fire floating in floodwaters and he hadn't announced a decision either.

Random source on socials, apparently Geelong trying for him now. I had to lol

Came from "Nuffington post" which then other pages picked up and ran with, not one ounce of fact checking.

It's not real mate, the amount falling for it is hilarious, it was on the watermark, dead giveaway lol

We can hook him up with a Ford Fairlane if he wants and get Ford Fairlane himself to recommend the best model of Ford Fairlane for him and then give him a spin around Adelaide in it.
