The Crows rise this year, is very reminiscent of the Hawks last year. They have taken the comp by surprise a bit. Question is, will they get worked out by other teams at the pointy end?

We shall know soon enough.
As much as the Crows have had an exceptional year to date, they are IMO a couple key injuries away from failing. I honestly believe that if Dawson gets injured before finals that will massively put a strain on their structure and the team even leadership. If they lose Thilthorpe they'll lose a very important and key player who is a massive presence in their forward line and for structure but also is great around the ground as backup ruck. If they lose both, I honestly feel they won't win one final against the other teams there. They haven't played finals yet as this team so whilst they have been flying, it's a whole new pressure and game especially against some teams who know finals, specifically Cats, Lions and even the Pies. Rankine might be a great player but I can't see him being this finals break out player (yet)... could be wrong but I feel he will play good but mostly go missing if pressure gets too much.

This was a big win for the crom-
The Gold Coast SUNS have facilitated a trade with the Adelaide Crows for young forward Izak Rankine.

In exchange for Rankine, the SUNS have acquired the Crows’ pick 5 in the 2022 NAB AFL Draft and both Adelaide’s future third and fourth-round draft picks.

In return the SUNS have also sent Adelaide pick 46 and Fremantle’s future fourth-round draft selection gained from the Dockers in the trade for Josh Corbett.

It’s not just injuries if Thilthorpe and or Dawson are well held in a final they don’t seem to be able to respond

Literally Dawson and Thilthorpe kicked 4 of the 5 goal run they got on to beat Hawthorn same last weekend they’re completely reliant on them

He could go to the crows and win 2 or 3 flags in the next few years or come to Port and deal with the shell of a once proud club. Benefits of Port is that there is limited desire for the ultimate success, so he could coast and still get shitloads of money. St
That would be a bit like how Adam Treloar chose Collingwood over Richmond at the end of 2015 because Collnigwood were more likely to win a flag

If Andrew McLeod didn't have a big falling out with the crows, he would be a key weapon for them to get NWM to pick them.

The money is huge no matter where he goes so playing with your mates at the club where the Wanganeen name has such a rich history seems like a no brainer to me.

He is going to instantly be a fan favourite, look how long this thread is and he hasn’t even nominated us yet.

I don’t think our list is in that bad of a shape either.

If he stays loyal to the saints, good on him, I’ll respect him for that but I’ll be surprised if he chose the crows over us just because of his connections at port. I wouldn’t think Horny and Jase would take it too well either.

It’s why Luko chose port instead of the team he grew up supporting because his best mate was the captain here.

There still seems to be people on this board that still don't realise how Ken being the coach for the last 13 years has hamstrung the teams performances. The fact he isn't here next year will automatically make us a better team im expecting a spike how big, not sure but no reason we can't play finals next year especially if we have a decent run with injuries.
I think removing Hinkley and installing a good coach would be worth at least 2 to 3 goals, possibly more. I'm being conservative. It might take a while but it should start soon enough.

Surprised it wasn't:

"Sometimes you get calls around things...and I got a few today around Nasiah Wanganeen Milera. Last night I was 98% confident he had a syndesmosis injury. In the last hour, I am about 60% confident he has a syndesmosis injury." - Gerard Healy with some information on Nas.

How could you be 98% sure an A- grade player unsigned in August will re-sign when history says players in that situation almost always leave.

Crazy.

Makes no sense at all.

Their season literally finishes in ten days time (as does ours).

He’s leaving it awfully late to simply sign back on with StKilda. It’s possible he does sign with them but you’ve gotta ask yourself why hasn’t he done that already.

Even allowing for his manager playing the three clubs off against each other it’s mid August.

Andrew also played for Port and would have played for us had we been successful in our initial AFL bid.
Andrew joined PAFC in 1993, playing in the under age sides after he played seniors in the NTFL's 1992-93 season. he turned 17 in August 1993. A few years ago I did a deep dive on how the **** Freo had rights to him to do the Groom Froome trade.

Bucky signed him up after he was BOG in a 1993 Teal Cup game where NT beat one of the Victorian teams. Bucky took a punt that if we get the licence in 1996 we could sign him up. But he was too good to wait around for 2 years. He was a big Michael Long / Essendon fan.

If we went into the AFL in 1991 we would have relied on AFL concession rules at the time. Who knows at the time what they would have been.

If we got the same rules the crows got then we would have had no rights to him. The crows got the SANFL as a zone for 1990 and 1991 drafts and they first entered the 1992 mid season draft followed by the 1992 national draft. Under those rules we would have had no rights to McLeod.

Part of Freo's initial concession rights in 1994 signing/trade/draft period for their inaugural squad, was they could take 2 players in the SANFL outside of the draft as well as 2 from both VFL and TFL and unlimited players from WAFL as well as 10 or 12 uncontracted AFL players over 2 years. We got nothing as good as that in 1996. After he played in Port's 1994 flag, Freo's recruiters told Neesham they should take him under these rules.

Freo flew McLeod and his father to Perth to meet Neesham, who had never seen him play. McLeod was insulted by Neesham asking him to stand up so he could see how tall he was and that Freo's set up was so new and so poor and behind what Port had at the time. He said he's not interested, so Freo traded the rights to him to the crows for Chris Groom Froome who was a promising KPF, but would only last a year at Freo, be traded to North and then do his ACL and have ongoing knee injuries. Groom Froome only racked up 24 games in 6 seasons for 3 clubs. It became the biggest dud trade in AFL history.

So I have no idea how you can definitively say he would have played for us if we got in, into the AFL in 1991.

Haha. Healy is pretty well connected at St Kilda. Was a big fan as a kid and over the years has done work with them.

If he is jumping at shadows, sounds like the Saints are spooked.

Seriously give it a rest, you and PAFC66 must spew from the same keyboard.
