I think I get it - I take it only the winner goes to Champions League?

I think the OP is saying that if CD win and go the champions league - then Taylor won't be available to play for Victoria in the Champ League

Would be a shame, given how much of a proud Victorian Taylor is.

You might wanna start hoping Somerset go really badly in their T20 comp...although with Pollard and White on Taunton they should at least make the finals....

From what I understand the IPL teams have first dibs on the players for the Champions League, then their 'home' team, then who knows.

That's why Delhi took Nannes and White and Warner went back to VIC and NSW because they hardly played during the IPL.

The only priority the IPL have is their money. It's the player's choice but the IPL franchises have the money to convince players to 'choose' them, and to pay the $200k fee to the home side. CV and SACA are highly unlikely to pay that to CD, T&T or whoever Afridi's Pakistani side is if they get included this year and make it.

The WACA was to receive $200k from an IPL team to allow Hussey to play for them - unfortunately - that series got cancelled due to the bombings.

So a player can play for their original team - it is just more financially rewarding for player and state for them not to. The rules of the Champ leage state the player has the option!

Enjoyed Taylor's innings immensely. He was 3 off 6 balls and then scored 50 off 19. The size of the Pukekura Park boundaries took something away from the performance however. If Australia didn't call Ryan Harris up Auckland were set to sign him according to Scott Styris, as stated on The Cricketer's Show. Instead they plucked Andre Adams out of Sydney grade cricket. And then they played Bopara over him due to the one international import rule.
