"The time has come," the Walrus said,
"To talk of many things:
Of shoes and ships and sealing wax
Of cabbages and kings
And why the sea is boiling hot
And whether pigs have wings...."

If that part of vintage Lewis Carrol didn't make much sense to you then it just might make more sense than the predictions of some of the crackpot posters on this board we welcome with open arms into the fold just like the NRA would. Look at the keyword before you abuse me.
Now these are the criterion on which your predictions shall be noted;
-Best 22
-Wins/Losses vs teams
-Leading goalkicker
-Draftees/trades to debut in 2010 (H/A season)
-Defining Moment of season
-Breakout year/falling stars
-Most Brownlow votes
-JD Medal winner
-Rising Star Nominations
-Premiership winner/Wooden Spoon Winner
-Brownlow winner
-Coleman winner
-Retirements/Delistings
-Membership tally

I'm almost regretting putting that last one on....*waits for MT to hijack thread with membership rant/prog*:o

Go forth and post and then it will get locked before Round 1 and you can see how much of a muppet you look by round 2.

- FB: Newman Thursfield Moore
- HB: Edwards McGuane Rance
- C: Tambling Foley Collins
- HF: Cousins Riewoldt Cotchin
- FF: Nahas Post Morton
- Foll: Graham Deledio Jackson
- Inter: Vickery Farmer Connors Tuck/Thomson/Martin

- 8 wins, 14 losses. Wins against Essendon, Carlton, Melbourne, Freo, North, Port & Sydney. One team we'll beat twice. Surely. (I don't have the fixture handy, so dunno which one.)

- Riewoldt: 44 goals

- Taylor, Farmer, Martin, Dea, Astbury, Griffiths, (Gilligan), Webberley, Contin, Grimes

- Cotchin begins to dominate across HF with stints on the ball in two or three games. Deledio improves further on his best form and plays more consistently. Both will play brilliantly in the same game - Essendon.

- Breakout years: Cotchin, Deledio (if he counts), Tambling (likewise), Connors, Thursfield, Collins
- Falling Stars: Cousins will play less game time, and so get lower numbers if that counts. Simmonds if he hasn't already. Hislop, Polo, Polak.

- Deledio (17)

- McGuane/Tambling/Deledio

- Collins if eligible, Martin

- Open flag race; possibly Collingwood, as much as I hate to say. With Jolly and Ball, two of their weaker areas may have been fixed. Thomas, Didak & Davis are all brilliant if the ball is given to them, and that suits Ball to a tee. Jolly - Ball - Pendlebury - Thomas - Didak; goal. Will be hard to counter. Hopefully Geelong are up again.
Spoon: I think Port are due for an even-more-than-usual dismal year. Them or Melbourne.

- Pendlebury (25)

- Fev - 80

- Retirements: Cousins, Simmonds; Delistings: Polak, King, Hislop, White,

- 28,500

Bah, we've done those predictions over and over again. I'll make a few different ones.

-Brett Deledio will record the most tackles of any Richmond player.

-The Postman will play at least 14 games

-Dean Polo will become a fixture off half forward, likewise with Edwards off half back

-Luke McGuane will get done for something at the tribunal

I do however, like the defining moment prediction. I think it will be when one of our scrawny kids cops a huge shirtfront from a solidly built player.

Gee Wally, you're more pessimistic than me.

Tiges to beat Carltoon in Round 1.
Finish 12th. (shock value of new team)
The Postman to dominate. New RFC 'Go To' Man.

If we win 6 games, we wont be coming last.

If we blood all those youngsters, we will be coming last.

If Morton kicks 52 (or 60+ like some delusional supporter believes), we wont be coming last.

I'm confused...

This year there is no priority pick reward for finishing last with less than 4 games, so there is no reason for sides to lose games that they should win. Melbourne finished 16th last year with 4 wins 1.5 wins behind us and 2 wins behind the Dockers, without the PP reward its is quite reasonable that they could have won another 2 games.

Morton was our leading goalkicker last year with 41.26 from 21 games so quite possible that with a little bit of improvement in conversion he can average an extra 0.5 goals per game more to kick 52 for the season.

As for not making a call on retirements/delistings experience tells me that making calls on players careers prior to the start of the season leaves you open to looking quite the fool at seasons end when someone you wrote off has a breakout season or performs well enough to be rewarded with a new contract. For example majority of posters want King and/or McMahon gone next year when their contracts expire, but what happens if King turns himself into a very good tagger and McMahon gets back to being an attacking HBF whose run and carry becomes an important weapon do we just discard them because the majority of fans don't want them here.

Finally with 15 new players on the list this year and a new coach looking at developing the kids, there is every chance that we'll see at least 8 debutants this year, in fact I wouldn't be surprised to see upto a dozen new faces this year especially with us being allowed to play 2 nominated rookies from the start of the season.

The composition of the team is a massive unknown. Hopefully some of the newbies make a spot their own by the end of the year (I'm thinking Roberts). There are plenty up for grabs.

Martin, Taylor, Webberley, Roberts, Nason, Dea, Griffiths, Astbury and Farmer. We'll get to see all the kids. Grimes might get a run too.

-Defining Moment of season: Losing first 11 games

Breakout:
Rance – Actually given a role to play and execute. Play as a third tall defender and run up the ground as link player.

Moore – Try him up the ground on a wing or flank. He is tall and solid enough to use size and speed and try and create something.
Falling Stars/Duds:

Polo – Not that he was ever a "Star" but is still too skinny and a very poor user of the pill.
McMahon – Not far to fall

I have very few expectations this year. Every year I am enthusiastic at the start that maybe this year we will win some games:o.

Most "experts" consider us to have the worst list in the AFL and with the likes of McMahon, Simmonds, King, Polo and co all probably in our best 25 it only cofirms it:o.

If we win more than two games I will be most pleased as we are just starting to rebuild our list for midway through this decade:thumbsu:.

Let the pain continue...................
