PSD will be interesting, Toy? Jacobs? Dare I say..... Tippet?
Tippett will go to GWS if he is in the PSD.

I'd like to have a look at Toy. He was so highly regarded as a junior that it simply can't just evaporate at the rate it has. There is more at play when it comes to Josh Toy. And I know Cale was highly rated and all, but Toy has just fallen off the planet.

Here is the 2012 Herald Sun Shield Grand Final:

Nick Rippon is no: 5, Dom Barry is 17.. Not a good game for Barry, but the class is there.
Other notables: Jake Neade 3, Tanner Smith 4, Michael Close 7 and Martin Gleeson 29, who all look to get picked up.

MFC already has a strong affiliation with St Pat's with the likes of recent players: James and Anthony McDonald, Rory Taggert, Tom McDonald, Lucas Cook all recent draftees...

Da boiz.
Rippon is one i really like, BOG in this game quite easily. Very high up in TAC cup league BnF. Hard at it, never shirks a contest, and does have a mature body for his age. And I'm quite astounded i have heard nothing about him draft wise. Plays like Sam Mitchell. Would defiantly take him anywhere around 50.

Also Lucas Cook was a Clarendon scumbag, not a Patties boy.

I want Wines, then we will have VW grunt in the center for the next 10+ years Viney & Wines ;). GWS are going to be over stocked with mids at this rate and they won't be getting much game time and will want to leave. In saying that I reckon they will take Whitfield, Grundy, Plowman which would set their spine right up to build great team around.

If they take Whitfield, Grundy and Plowman, then surely Melbourne will have a good look at Toumpas aswell?

Toumpas or Wines I'm very happy with either.

With the PSD would be happy for us to have a look at Toy as has been said, surely this kids talent hasn't just evaporated.

If Toumpas is there at 3 and we don't take him, I'll be equally as angry as when we didn't pick up Jack Darling. The kid has class written all over him. He isn't a pocket rocket like a Ben Kennedy he is a tallish mid who has polish, time and the temperament of a seriously good player. Could be a good utility with his height and overall good skills. Really want this kid, it's gonna be a hard draft to staff up this draft regardless, but his a must have, ticks all the boxes and is ready made for AFL having finished school last year.

He sounds alright, But I would rather get Wines to be honest with you, From all reports he is tough as nails, exploding on baller, Sounds like the next dangerfield to me, Also has a bit of muscle on him, Really cannot be bothered waiting 4 years for some skinny bloke to build some muscle again like cale morton. Not suggesting that all skinny players are bad.

Also heard that he is great friends with Jack Viney, if they end up in the same midfield, we will see some immediate chemistry and connection.

Don't know about the exploding part, isn't speed his main weakness?, which would make him pretty far from a Dangerfield. I hope we take Toumpas if he's there at 4

Yeah I haven't done enough research, probably picked it up from some unreliable source. But I'm really hoping Skinny kids at pick 4 doesn't become a curse at MFC. Ill have to look into it a bit more. But either way I am pretty excited with who pick up, although hopefully if we pick up Toumpas he doesn't get home sick like every other freaking player these days. Speaking of S.A recruits, I'm not to sure on grundy, once again I haven't fully looked into it, but having a look at melbournes list with fitzpatrick, gawn, jamar, clark, dawes all being talls, I'm starting to think we have to many of them. An aggressive on baller would be nice, since we have now added speed with Rodan, Brynes, and Barry.

I'm a firm believer of picking up kids who do well in their respective junior finals. It's something that Collingwood have taken under their wing and it's paid massive dividends for them. They got a steal in sidebottom at pick 10, the bloke kick 10 in the GF. THey picked up Dale Thomas after a really dominant finals display. They also picked up Andrew Krakour who had 30 something touches and kicked the winning goal in the dying seconds in his WAFL GF. Toumpas played some bloody good finals as a 17 year old, kicking a really crucial goal in the final. He didn't do it again this year due to injury. But I'm confident he is a big time player, he oozes leadership, something our other 'skinny' draftees (gysberts Morton and Cook) lacked.

Yeah, i did see one mock draft that compared him to (a bigger bodied version) of Cotchin, who s=does have that burst of speed. I haven't seen much of Wines other than the TAC cup finals and didn't really notice his speed one way or the other TBH. Would be nice if they made available all the draft camp results, it'd be interesting to see what his sprint times were.

Yeah the source was one of the facebook pages, I couldn't find much on afl.com about wines this is all I could find: "Wines is one of the most complete onballers in the draft. He has an elite endurance base, is hard at it around the stoppages, a ferocious tackler and is already physically developed to the point where he will be capable of playing plenty of senior footy in his first year in the AFL. He won All Australian honours after averaging 24 possessions in four games for Vic Country and was named in the Pioneers' best players in nine of his 10 games in the TAC Cup this year."

In there it doesn't mention anything about his speed, which suggests it's not that great. Although it does say that he is a ferocious tackler and physically developed, which I like alot.

In one of the mock drafts on facebook the admin said he was quick and explosive, once again facebook is not all that reliable. and unfortunately I don't have foxtel so I'm unable to watch the TAC cup. So I'm going 100% off reports.

Anyway I'm still happy with who ever we pick up at 4.

Sorry Dan Nicholson was the other one i was after...

Had some mail that Melbourne are chasing Rippon. I believe that they maybe looking at a second round pick if he can slip that far.

Do we even have a 2nd round Pick?

He isnt even in either of Chris25 or Knightmares Mocks from what i see, so not in their top 80-100 players.

Yeah he looked like a contested ball machine, hard at it kid, remembering this wasnt a TAC game still a very high level but not TAC.

second in the TAC BaF and not mentioned in either mocks, not to say they are right, the Rebels boys get perenially overlooked and down played imo. case in point Nicho missing out, Mcdonald at 53

I would love to see Viney and Wines together, it would be awesome , They are already good mates so midfield chemistry wouldn't be problem, they would work as a team with Jones and Sylvia very nicely.

Sorry, bit confused with all the FA picks which have bumped things around. Possibly a pick around 50 which we got from the Martin trade. (A lot of this will depend on which mature age players are still available at these picks as Neeld is keen to sign on a few more hardened bodies)

Rippon is a bit of a late developer, but is coming on strong and plays well in what ever level of football he plays in. The harder the grade or occasion, the better he performs. He is not as complete as Taggert, but if we could get him as a very late draft pick (fingers crossed Mortons trade pick 88) he would be a handy inclusion.

I just have a feeling with Rippon that if he gets the right development then he could be a solid AFL player. He has silky skills, reads the play well and works hard at his game.

must say based on that video only , rippon does look like one to keep an eye on. seems like a kid that can play inside when needed and outside as well.

Who is this Rippon bloke that I seem to keep hearing about on these threads, Got a last name , or should I say a first name? Hahh wouldn't mind having a look at him.

Yep go back and look at the st late video..he does look to be a pretty solid prospect.

Just watched the entire replay of the Melbourne v Essendon game (don't ask) gee Nicholson looked good for 4 quarters. Clearly has to work on his disposal, but he is far and beyond our best one on one small defender. Loves the contest!

I have got Melbourne in our phantom draft over on the Pies board and was hoping someone could help me out with what type of players Melbourne need - mainly with the latter picks. There has been a lot of player turnover so no doubt some holes to fill. But what sort of players are most necessary?

I think I have pick 4 worked out. I can't go too wrong there, but it depends on who GWS pick. I am expecting one of the very good mids to be available. I am thinking in order of preference Toumpas, Wines & O'Rourke. Probably expect Toumpas to be gone so Wines is the man for me. I think Neeld will like his style. The x-factor here is if Grundy slips - I expect GWS to take him, but if not it would be hard not to take the best available ruck.

With the later picks its a raffle, but would like to know thoughts on what sort of players or player attributes the Dees will be after: speed, tall, small, fwd, back etc.

My early thoughts are another key defender wouldn't hurt and that the forward line is looking OK other than maybe a crumber. If I take Grundy I would look at a mid, but if Wines is taken plus Viney then need to look at other positions.

Any advice appreciated:thumbsu:

Midfielders and small backs.

Although we have traded a bit out, we still have good KPD depth and with the trade period additions we now have a little bit of KPF depth.

A steal in sidebottom? Brilliant

As said above. Speedy mids and small backs. Maybe a pacy small forward with one of the spare picks. Our back and forwardline are pretty close to being complete, our midfield has a core but is way too slow and has very little spread.
