Clarke, Haddin, Bird, Cowan, Faulkner, Harris, Hughes, Khawaja, Lyon, Pattinson, Rogers, Siddle, Starc, Wade, Warner, Watson

Seems a pretty sensible squad in my eyes. No Johnson or Smith from the incumbents, while Marsh and Hilfenhaus have also missed out. Also pleased that they have resisted the urge of rushing Cummins back at the expense of Bird or Harris. Well done selectors (Haddin aside) :thumbsu:

All things considered I don't think they could have picked a better squad.

My thoughts exactly. Johnson hasn't previously performed in England while Smith has a known "weakness" against the swinging ball under clouds. I hope they can force their way in through the A tour, because while they don't deserve to be left out- they are not in the strongest 17 on English soil at this stage.

What a ****ing disgrace. No better then bloody Hilditch.
Brad Haddin?
FFS, no words can describe how utterly stupid this is.

stoked to see rogers in the team, but he has been opening the batting so maybe ed is on the bubble of getting dropped

Didn't watch much Shield cricket last season?

As good a squad as could have been selected, though I think Usman is a little fortunate to be picked over Smith.

Just realised, 'Hit the Pitch Mitch' hasn't even been picked on the 'A' tour. I am one of his biggest critics, but he had a very good Australian summer o_O

He did. Kinda. He bowled 'his' way. Which is all well and good when you're picking the 7th bowler in line or whatever. But at the MCG, how many of his wickets came from bowling full, which is the Australian bowling plan? And how many came from bowling aggressive, back of a length/short stuff which we accepted does not work against England? Most of them....i don't think it's a surprise he's out of the Ashes squad at all and being leaved out of the Aus A squad....well he'll be in the Champions Trophy squad...

He'll be playing white ball cricket.

0-5 Thats what that squad is.

Possible. If Johnson missing is your selection gripe, on the talent available, it is a good squad.

Steve Smith v. Khawaja is the debatable one but personally happy with the horses for courses choice by the selectors. Smith is a better player of spin so good move to elevate him above Khawaja in India and Khawaja is a better player of the moving ball so good move to elevate him above Smith for England.

With Watson as the batting all rounder, Faulkner as a bowling all rounder offers a better package than Henriques as well.

The balance of the squad is right for mine.
