Correct... tomorrow will see the conviction and then he will not be able to enter the US!!! sorry not being smug.... your right.

He can challenge any VISA denial through an interview, if he shows remorse and they think he wont re-offend he will be let in. Given it will be his first criminal offense the odds are in his favour.

I have never liked Ben Cousins, he has always seemed far to arrogant and cocky but this isnt the way his career should have ended. Was a great player with no self control.

If/When he gets himself right (which i hope he does) i will welcome him back into the footy world (whether it be Country football, WAFL, SANFL, VFL or AFL (the latter unlikely))

Until then, a world where copious amounts of cash coming in, is no place for a person with his problems.

Get yourself right this time mate, then come back and grace our fields again.... SoMEDAY!

He is far to arrogant to be playing lower level football, the Port final is the last time he will pull on the boots.

it had to happen, but hopefully the kid gets himself right whatever he does next
He is a 29 year old man, not a kid, and it is unfortunate. If he is a meth addict, then he needs long-term treatment because it is probably the hardest drug addiction to beat because there isn't any counter-drug such as naloxone for opioid drug addiction. Willpower alone will not be enough, and often brain damage can occur from smoking methamphetamines which makes dependance hard to treat because the body relies on it due to the changes ithe drug has made to the brain.
At least WCE sack them, other teams players just end up playing the next week!
I'm not sure of which players you're referring to that have repeatedly found themselves in this continual kind of trouble.

Im embarassed we sacked a bloke for having mild anti depressants really

WCE - Ran by the media since 2006

Club need to harden up and get a backbone

West Coast were left with no other option, Ben has been a fantastic player, I just now hope for the sake of his own well being he gets himself sorted out before it turns into a tragedy.

Oh no, what will he do next. Take another anti depressant. Geez what will we do. The guy is too far gone now. I mean anti depressants. Theres no coming off that hard stuff.

we didn't, it was for all of the indiscretions combined with the latest...refusing the blood test sealed his fate, he's effectively guilty of that offence even if he pleads not guilty..the club was clear and precise about police run-ins.

"I did nay cry when me own father was hung for stealing a pig, but I'll cry now"

Would this year just end already. I'm gutted and so dissapointed. Ben Cousins has been my favourite player since he started in the AFL. I've had nothing but respect and patience for him but this is just idiocy. It's not just himself he's let down, it's a nation of supporters. Next season we are now down two brownlow medallists, and he risked losing West Coast their draft picks and premiership points.

It's been a dark year for the Eagles, and the last thing they needed was one of their favourite sons to go and screw up big time. Again. He shows no respect and thinks of nobody but himself. Pathetic.

I think Cuzzy has been harshly done by. You should have at least waited until the charges were put through. Why sack him on the spot when you could wait until the case actually goes through court? He could be completely innocent.

Wouldn't the court case be after the de-listing deadline? Plus I'm sure there would've been plenty of pressure from major sponsors.

You guys are a powerful club. Probably the most powerful club in the league. You should have stuck by your former captain and favourite son.

Yep, totally agree. If Ben comes out "not guilty"...lets say he had a 'script for the pills, he may have a case against the Eagles. I think we should have waited.

Sad still

Do you really think the AFL would have accepted that? He has been staying with Chick, who was in another car with a guy carrying meth, charlie and gunja. If there was any way the club could have kept him and maintained their integrity, I would have been all for it, because as a player, I love the guy. But it wasn't possible. He must have known that even the smallest slip-up would end his career.
The club has to support him now though. Getting his life together has to be his priority now.

I'm sad too, however, I fully believe that if the club hadn't acted swiftly, the AFL would have penalised us heavily. Loss of draft picks or premiership points. The media was/is putting huge pressure on them to do it.
The Eagles had no other choice.

Don't you think it's convenient how Ben has covered his arse through this whole saga.

To this day he hasn't tested positive to a banned substance, he hasn't admitted to a drug addiction more substance abuse and we still don't know what the substance is.

How can he be completely innocent when he refused a blood test and saliva sample?

That is an offence in itself

You people are on drugs if you think he is innocent. Ben does not care about anyone else other than himself as is evdient by his attitude today.

You should be happy that the club cut ties to him as he is a weight around the clubs neck.

No player is worth the shit that your club has gone through in relation to the negative publicity. The club is the laughing stock of the AFL at the moment in relation to its player management and it has a long hard road to rebuild its standing in the AFL
People can say what they like but in the end you cant tell me that the management of the club has not turned a blind eye to this behaviour for the last few years and they are now paying the price of that
