An 11 point loss.
Always tough to take particularly when a player short and three 100+ scorers on the bench. The talent is obviously there, and the rest of the league have been put on notice.
But not to worry. Grim's coaching position is on the line this year - that's why he has made 4 or 5 trades already. He knew he had to beat the most talented team in the comp in round one to keep the dogs from his door.
The Hack's know the grand final is played in September - not April. That's what we are focused on. Round 1 was disappointing because we are a team full of ultra-talented youngsters, dripping with class and polish. A midfield of Black-Mitchell-Cornes-Bruce-Lappin-Gibbs/Hadley will not lose too many games. Particularly delivering to the likes of Pavlich, Chapman, Johnson, and Fevola. The good news is we have plenty of money to splurge on some other guns as the season heats up.
We just got done by an old team on the slide. It's going to happen through the season, purely due to our attacking and flamboyant style. We will do much better against a team who don't push 6 loose men behind the ball and play "tempo footy". I think the most disappointing thing to come from the loss was the fact it was against a bottom-4 certainty. Who can't afford to lose games against the "everyone gets a trophy" teams. Upsets happen in round 1 - you just have to see this game, or the fact Team Toddy won for evidence of that.
Next week the boys will be fired up. We are playing John's Team who will be a very strong foe. There is no doubt we play better against the better sides, so watch our rise next week.

But my team is fairly set at the moment. I've still got a bit of money in the kitty, so I'll probably use that up and then I won't have to change much for a while.

I must admit I'm a little surprised Warwick is trying to save face so early in the season. Who would have guessed he would get rattled so easily?
