Always good to see when a sportsman performs after the media spotlight has been on them.

Personally i don't think the media focus on him much at all.

I think the cricket journos understand the situation. He's a young leggie just making his way in the game, the fact that he is captain of the reigning champs is merely testament to his leadership skills, rather than some comment on his ability.

For a leg-spinner of 21, his record is very good.
When you throw in his excellent catching at first slip, his solid middle order batting and his leadership skills, you've got a very handy cricketer who is only going to improve.

Re: Cameron White

Simon O'donnell was talking about his form in the ING cup game last week, and Greg Shipperd was defending him on the tv last week as well, thats only 2 instances so I guess that is my reasons for saying the media spotlight, there were probably more but I didn't see them, i don't live in Melb or buy the Hun or Age.

Re: Cameron White

He definrtly proved a lot of the dicks on this board who think he sucks solely because he is a victoian wrong in the last couple of weeks he has stood up when the vics had to win against tassie and queensland.
It was also good to see that Adam Crothwaite performed well with the bat 54 off 38

Re: Cameron White

They did an interview with White in the Age's Melbourne magazine or whatever it was called sometime during the week. So he's getting a little bit of media attention.

Also, on Sports Tonight last night, when did they mention the result of the game at the Gabba? Thats hould have been the second or third story IMO. No wonder noone goes to state cricket games with that kind of coverage.

Re: Cameron White

Yeah... A few more performances like that and those stats in your sig might actually start looking half-way respectable. ;)

Re: Cameron White

i think cameron is most certainly a future australian one day player, playing a similar role to Hogg. However im still not certain that he will be a test bowler of any great note. Before every victorian bags me here,im just giving you my opinion so please be mature about it. Im not saying he isnt a good bowler, i just feel that other spinners will play test cricket, such as cullen and Casson, while White will be the one day spinner.

Re: Cameron White

Yeah silky, but check out White's economy rate. Still, he's a young, inexperienced spinner, so he will get better and hopefully get better line throughout his career. He even has a game in hand over Cleary and Tait. No surprise to see MacGill up there, he is a class act, hopefully he will get an ODI spot with Warne's absence.

Re: Cameron White

He will be our next full time spinner.

Aklthough I like him, Brad Hogg needs to put in a few more good performences to have his spot in the side.

Re: Cameron White

White should have no problem getting a game, in late 02 when the World Cup shortlist was announced, he made it to the top 30, and he was 19 at the time. So he's definitely a favourite with Hohns.

Great performance from the kid last night.

Queensland were cruising towards victory when Cameron came in and took 3-3 in a quick spell, ending the game with 4-42.

He also made a good contribution with the bat, and took 2 great catches.

Kid cops a lot of ******** from many here, some of it justified, but matchwinning performances like this one deserve some recognition.

Well done Cameron. :)

Phat, you'll have some good PYD material tonight. ;)

Re: Cameron White

Definitely Jubs.

The kid is on the rise, really starting to bring together some consistency with the odd match-winning effort thrown.

Great to see him make his maiden century today. Well done White Dog :)

Individual performances should not be put before the team.

Bulldust. The aim of the game is to win. I'm sure Harvey would rather 90* than finish the day with a ton, and QLD at 9 for, needing a couple extra overs to roll them.

Re: Cameron White costs everyone a slab

Harvey would have known at the start of the days play how long they were going to bat. He had the option to get his runs quick.
