Individual performances should not be put before the team.

What about Klinger? 20 years old, heading for his maiden first class ton....think i'll declare right now while he's on 99.

The scars he would've suffered as a result arguably destroyed his career. Had there been no declaration who would no what would have happened...a bit of confidence + an abundane of natural talent. He may have been up in Brisbane now, guiding his team to a victory.

you are a ******
Not sure what the circumstances of the declaration were (can someone tell me what time he declared), but White should have given Harvs another 4-5 balls to get 3 boundaries and he would have had his ton.

It doesn't matter though when you look at situations like Maxy Klinger's. You gotta feel sorry for the kid.

Harvey would have known at the start of the days play how long they were going to bat. He had the option to get his runs quick.

exactly. he would've known

90* doesnt feel that bad anyways. doesnt have the deal with the stress of the nervous 90's either :p

Re: Cameron White

Superb knock today against the West Indies, 61 from about 57 balls.
Scored quickly, played some excellent finesse shots and some power hits.

Not even his harshest critic could bag him after that innings, showed a stack.

Re: Cameron White

yeah batted real well, lets just hope he doesnt bowl much becuase i could see his bowling as cannon fodder to gayle and lara, will play odi's for australia but as a batsman and maybe part time bowler?

Re: Cameron White

Coming along nicely.

Reckon he'll play a fair bit of one day cricket for Australia. Solid bowler and a quick scorer with the bat.

Still yet to see much to suggest a future in test cricket, but he's still very young for a cricketer.

Re: Cameron White

Watching White this morning reaffirms my opinion that he'll be a better batsman in time.

His footwork was excellent, his play off his pads a delight and his cutting superb.

Leaves me wondering why he hasn't scored more runs in domestic cricket to this point.

That would be a problem in my opinion. He's a good batsman, but I doubt he'll ever be good enough to be selected in a test side based on his batting. I've always considered his bowling to be his best chance of forcing his way into the test side at some stage.

Can't see being as good as Watson as a batting all-rounder.

He is 21.

He could be anything with the bat and/or ball.

Its fantastic to have Clarke, Watson, White and Tait running around. Hopfully those kids will mature even more while other blokes step up.

Re: Cameron White

His batting will improve, as his confidence rises.

I think he'll average around 45 in FC and 40 in tests with the bat, and around 30 with the ball, with his fast leggies and toppies.

he is a pretty exciting player.

I think he still tries to hit it a bit hard at times. He showed he can play the finesse shots (that late cut was sublime), but when trying to turn the strike over he tends to go a bit hard.

He's a big strong lad with plenty of ability, so hopefully he will develop softer hands as time goes on.

Good observations. I think the reason he hasn't made more runs is because he has tended to bat too low in the order. Happy to see him now batting ahead of Harvey and I think the runs will be more consistent next season. Needs to move himself to number 5 because he will always be be more of a batting all-rounder.

Time to move above Moss as well. I think Elliott, Hodge, Hussey and Arnberger (in the Pura Cup only) are the only better batsmen in Victoria than White. Perhaps when Warney gives it all away he can help White with the bowling, as that is the area where improvement is really needed.

Keep forgetting how young he is though. Coming on very nicely, eh Jaymin?

Having two medium pace all-rounders like Moss and Harvey have probably kept White batting at 6 or 7 instead of 5 but I think it's time for him to move there. If he can just string together another couple of scores then the Vic selectors should insist that he bats at 5. His bowling needs to improve and he really needs to start turning it more. At 21 he is a great prospect.

Re: Cameron White

michael clarke FC batting average 39.19, bowling 42.12, nothing much to write home about really... and that includes playing for hampshire, test cricket must be easier than domestic FC, cricket heh?

and for bowling...Brett lees test average is about 32 runs per wicket, makes you wonder why so many are whining for his return..

and those talking up hauritz as the next test bowler, well...

FIRST-CLASS
(2001/02 - 2004/05; last updated 06/01/2005)
M I NO Runs HS Ave 100 50 Ct St
Batting & Fielding 30 40 8 509 94 15.90 0 1 17 0

O M R W Ave BBI 5 10 SR Econ
Bowling 800.4 187 2538 54 47.00 4-95 0 0 88.9 3.16

pretty crap really.

And those talking up McGill,

well he's 34, his FC bowling average is 29.4, and his batting is in single digits.

which makes you think that, with the exception of lee, test cricket is EASIER than domestic FC cricket, and makes you wonder why mcgilla gets a run, when he CANT bat, and on FC stats, white is 13 years younger is 4 runs a wicket worse than mcgill and 20 runs better.. etc, etc.

White will be an auto selection next year if he moves to NSW :D
