I'm not convinced Clarke will be consistent long term , good bowlers might find a few weaknesses with his batting but he is in front of White .

You can't knock White's batting at present as he's doing a job , haven't seen enough good things by him in the field to give the great field label , but his bowling is not up to standard (how can you have subtle variants in spin when you don't spin the ball , wasn't Benaud's first advice to Warne - spin the ball , once they start looking for the ball to move off the pitch you can start worrying about the rest)

For the White supporters - stop denying he has been picked as an all-rounder , if he wasn't Ponting wouldn't have thrown him the ball at the end to get him a wicket (just like how he gets his wickets for Vic) .

All this he's been picked for a couple of overs along with Clarke and Symonds is just crap , Roy bowls 10 or close to it most ODI's and Clarke has hardly bowled an over other than the other night .

of course he has been picked as an allrounder, but more as a batsman who bowls not a bowler who bats...

White is a good batsmen but he is no were near as good as Clarke
Clarke is a better batsmen and a better bowler and is a better fieldsmen

What? Clarke is a better bowler? What have you been smoking? The only reason why he has best figures of 6 for 9 in India was because it was a dustbowl of a pitch and anybody in C grade Cricket that plays for a 2nd rate country Cricket club could pick up those type of figures against India.

Clarke should not be bowling at all in any form of Cricket.

He was out plumb early, and his head was all oer the shop on a lot of shots.

I'd give it to clarke his really stepped but how bout all those duds that we wasted our time e.g Katich, Jaques we would've given more talented players a go and White would of been played a year ago replacing katich.

Theory: Join NSW= no matter how ******** you are you get an australian selection

I agree White was a little lucky with the LBW call. Also his technique is not perfect.

However he is going to have about 12 years to improve his technique and will play hundreds of games for Australia during this time.

Lets all sit back and watch the youngsters career go . It will be an exciting ride!

I'd say he will be far from a permanent inclusion for a few years yet. Consistency will be the key - look at the fall from grace of a much better player in Clarke.

Young players rarely go undropped for at least a chunk of their potential career.

I can't believe some people want Cullen in the side ahead of White when White has taken 130 odd wickets at first class level compared to 80 odd wickets to Cullen. It doesn't add up why they want Cullen in

Not that hard to rack up a hundy over a 12 year career. I think he will probably play between 150-200. They play plenty of games these years.

Anyway, i would confidently wage my left one that he will make 100 games by careers end for Australia.

Lets wait and see. At least one thing we can be assured of with Whitey....it will be a wild ride. This kid can hit the ball. Go CW!

Truth is it doesn't really matter if White can bowl at International level or not. He's replaced Martyn in the side as a batsman. Sure it'll be great for the team if White can bowl some useful spin like Symonds but it isn't a requirement for his continued presence.

As a batting all-rounder - same priciple applies that the selectors would not swap him for a bowler like Cullen, as the tail would be too long.

My drinking water is fine & it does manage to make better quality beers than in Victoria!

PS. White deserves his opportunity & has certainly done enough to persist with.

Reckon we are playing 1 bowler too many at the moment. I would bring in either Watson or Hogg for 1 of the pacemen.

At this stage White is in the side for Watson. As soon as Watson is back, I'd suggest White will only play the odd game when others are rested, etc. White will be a regular in the one day side in years (maybe not even that long) to come though.
