WTF is Bishop doing there. :(

If Roger James is playing for Norwood again this week I'll be very unhappy indeed.

With Francou and Ebert out, its a good thing we don't need a midfield in order to beat Brisbane.

Oh wait...

I completely disagree with that assertion!

I think it would be fine for him to play AFL football at any other club but ours.

Any reason why Ebert does not get more of a go i know he hurt his arm last week but still played second half and i thought was ok

John K or someone else at those press conferences should really ask Choco whether he sees Ebert as ever playing in the midfield, and if so when?

We have gained absolutely nothing by playing him up forward this year. He has regressed in that position just as JB did in the early part of last year. Put him on the ball to salvage his career, otherwise he will be consigned to being an SANFL player for the rest of his playing days.

Chaplin stays in when Bishop and Chad return. Could it mean that he stays at CHB and Chad is unleashed in the midfield? I liked your comment some days back that playing him in the middle provides him with enough challenges and opportunities for glory to keep him interested. I see Chappy is named on the bench, I just hope that our true lineup has been concealed.

The Port team is:

B: Peter Walsh, Darryl Wakelin, Matthew Bishop

HB: Michael Wilson, Chad Cornes, Adam Kingsley

C: Brett Montgomery, Kane Cornes, Shaun Burgoyne

HF: Josh Mahoney, Warren Tredrea, Stuart Dew

F: Michael Pettigrew, Damon White, Gavin Wanganeen

R: Brendon Lade, Domenic Cassisi, Peter Burgoyne

I/C: Dean Brogan, Troy Chaplin, Danyle Pearce, Steven Salopek

Emerg: Stuart Cochrane, Brett Ebert, Toby Thurstans

The Brisbane team is:-

B: Chris Johnson, Mal Michael, Jed Adcock

HB: Robert Copeland, Josh Drummond, Luke Power

C: Brad Scott, Michael Voss, Tim Notting

HF: Jared Brennan, Jonathan Brown, Ash McGrath

F: Jamie Charman, Daniel Bradshaw, Chris Scott

R: Dylan McLaren, Simon Black, Jason Akermanis

I/C: Anthony Corrie, Matt Moody, Llane Spaanderman, Justin Sherman

Emerg: Darryl White, Travis Baird, Troy Selwood

I like Chad in the midfield, but I don't see him as an extracting clearance midfielder...more a CHB playing a long way forward. Its hard for them to match him up, but he would keep punishing the opposition's forward movement.

As I said in the other thread I met Hutts and had a talk to him, I brought up Eberts lack of midfield time and he said that it actually is a fitness issue. After 15 minutes hes stuffed. He only had half a pre season. He said he needed to have a big pre season and work on his fitness base then he should get more time there.

He was very impressive Hutts. Very impressive.

It's nuggets of information like this that are one of the benefits of coming to the Port board.

Was Eddie Woloschek with you by any chance? :D

Hutts is a top bloke! Very down to earth and in touch with the average supporter. After the 2001 Semi loss to Hawthorn, he spent half an hour or so talking to me and a couple of mates back at the Club...he even shouted us a round. :)

The tour is very impressive, did they have the big players chart with all the recordings in the gym covered up Macca?

hmm interesting... i thought ebert was out due to injury? so if chad doesn't come up, we're likely to see cockrane back in the side :(

Centrals don't play till Sunday so Roach will probably be travelling emergency anyway and fly home Saturday night (although something in the back of my brain says we've had trouble getting the emergency on a flight back from Brisbane after 7:10 on a Saturday night before)

Nah it wasnt covered up.

If Chad fails to come up they will use Toby I think... His effort in the GF against the Lions was quite good remember (I know its a long long time ago now the way 2005 has turned out)...

y isn't thomson in the mix, now that james isnt....

when the sole reason they didnt play thomson 'apparently' was because they played too similar a style of game?

What are the official odds on Cochrane being called back into the side when Chad fails his fitness test tomorrow?

IMO Thurstans will come into the side as a replacement for either Cornes or Bishop.
Dissapointing that Thomson can't make the 25 man squad but then again if James isn't in our best 25 players i don't know who is. That is why i'm starting to think what's going through the selectors minds at the moment. Also for the record James did train for the majority of the main session on Wednesday night, where as Cornes & Bishop were struggling quite a bit.
