GOALden Hawk...

Kyle Archibald

Details:
Club: Ungarie Magpies, NSW
DOB: 23 Feb 86 Hgt: 190cm Wgt: 86kg
Position: Full Forward
Natural foot: Right

Honours:
AIS/AFL Academy
New South Wales 2003

Profile:
Kyle is a tall forward who is very agile and athletic. He is pretty young and can go around again next year if not drafted, but with his size he must be looked at.

Archibald is instantly recognisable with his blue helmet, and spends most of his time at full forward. However, he is quite prepared to wander up the ground to get possessions. This was best evident against Queensland at the carnival, where he worked hard all over the ground against Furfaro.

He is a good grab, but I'm still not too sure on his kicking. Some of his set shots in a Challenge Cup match were horrible. He is a good kick for goal in open play though. Not too sure about his actual pace or agility.

As you have to be 18 to be rookie listed he might get to go around next year instead.

I'm happy with everyone except Fletcher.

At least we have only paid for him with a really cheap pick. If he doesn't turn out OK, then there is no damage done.

Don't know about that...he's a late pick...only 25. Goes very hard and has a great attitude.

Overall the guy picked were youngsters which is fantastic...
a few tall kids too which makes me happy.

Wouldn't mind if we had two more talls...just for injuries.

Good draft for us..

Roach, Raines ,Tuck...ha :D Go the eighties !

Memo Miller - I'm happy :)

More kids than has beens - looks like a whole new list. It's all a gamble, but one worth it IMHO.

Agree, but what about someone like Will Gayfer?

Good point...I hope we Rookie him at least, Jarrad Wright wasn't drafted either.

Can't believe Morrison fell so far...it's like every other club knew it was hands off.

How tall is Raines ?

Possibly had a fair bit to do with him putting a price on his head.

Andrew Raines is a dead ringer for his old man. In appearance and the way he plays.

Morro will be a workhorse CHF. Plays in a very similar style to Jonathan Brown and hence found senior opportunities hard to come by. Never really had the chance to display it in the ones, but at reserves level (AFLQ) he dominated his position, and quite often displayed freakish skills and vision. Hope he can replicate that sort of form with the Tiges.

We'll have to make sure he gets to know Dave Rodan... so they can compare hair care products!

And thanks for the summary on Morrison, kind sir! We've heard the name mentioned a fair bit but didn't really know that much about him.

Brisbane look like they've done well again. :(

I would have loved to have secured either Jed Adcock or Tom Logan.

Bombers also look to have done alright. Is it wrong to hope their pick 6 turns into a flop. :D

IMO Collingwood have also done well by picking up 2 of the better talls in Morrison and Hall. They also pipped us with Rowe.

Our most critical pick was obviously 21 and already I'm nervous. We overlooked Adcock, Logan, Hall, Nash and Dyson.

Still puzzled as to why Gayfer didn't get picked up.

Gayfer for Rookie list now!

Quite pleased given we didn't have a first round pick which the bombers used on tall Bradley. Glad the club went for youth mostly which is what most of us Tiger fans have been crying out for. Nice to see a significant injection of youth into the list after the last 2-3 drafts. We picked up 3 190cm types although Morrison is probably the only KP out of them (and he's classed as a forward).

Of the recycled players - Morrison was picked up for height as mentioned. Tuck had an excellent year for Westies in SA after being on the Hawks' rookie list and his pedigree says he could be a late developer given his dad played 70 reserves matches for Hawthorn before cracking a senior game. Fletcher as others have said is purely a cheap back-up at pick 79 for the midfield to improve our depth and is really the only oldie of the draftees. Obviously a Brittain influenced choice that one. He probably is a "dud" but unlike Bidders isn't a dud on $$$.

My only question mark is the size (weight) of a few of these youngsters - they are fairly lightweight and our record of building up bodies is poor IMHO.

You got it in one MT - my only worry is it will be the same old same old as in the case of Fiora.

Cogs looked a bit skinny when he came over - hope some of these guys will take some advice off him.

Hehe, not Kepler. Loved him playing for the Falcons (my WAFL side) and I wish him all the best. Also a huge fan of Farren Ray ... hope the doggies treat him well.

Along with a few of you, the weight of a few picks has also concerned me. Andrew Gilmour is only bloody 66kg for 180cm! They'll bulk up, just hope it doesn't take too long.

This is a good thread, certainly has kept me up to date with it all.
