And one last thing - don't bag the fun videos like paper, scissors, rock etc...

...it was 2minutes in a week of intense training - I think it's important to put these things in perspective.
Yeah/nah, this is BigFooty; ain't gonna happen.

With regard to showing that the boys were hurting as much as the supporters (addressed by another poster) - We put Swallow up on Monday... Boomer and Wellsy spoke on Wednesday... then we had Brad on Thursday and will possibly have Spud speaking to the Herald Sun on Saturday...

So we have tried to communicate just how bad the boys have felt this week but I suppose the proof will be in the pudding and they only way to appease the masses will be with 4-points (on the ladder not the scoreboard) on Sunday - so we hand it over to the boys and trust they'll get it done.
Firstly, well done an anticipating this need (to hear the pain is shared). While it came through with Boomer ("I just want to win"), Swallow's body language doesn't come across as congruent and it comes through as rot or scripted, with use of Brad-esque phrases.

I think you're right to some extent though Heath; the pain won't be assuaged by words, but by actions. And a win over the Saints or Suns won't do it either imho, unless they are thrashings. Freo in Perth... that's what I'm talking about!!!

I'm an infrequent poster on here - usually happy reading the comments of others - but this issue has prompted me to get of my backside and say something.

If my boss were so inclined then I have no doubt then he could spent a significant part of the day criticising me and my job. It's not that hard to be critical if you want to be and/or want to take your frustrations out on others, so I applaud Heath for standing up for himself and his colleagues as it's a lot harder to defend yourself from criticism than it is to dish it out.

I'm sure that if Heath had the resources of his counterpart at Coll or Ess then we'd see a lot more video content, maybe even of the VFL. The reality is that Heath doesn't have those resources and without knowing how he goes about his job from day to day I'm guessing that he's continually confronted with decisions about what ideas have to fall by the wayside.

What would concern me is if I felt that our media department were doing nothing. I've lost count of how many times I've turned on the TV or radio to hear praise for the access that North gives them. How often do we see North on the news or in print compared with the scant coverage that we used to get? My memory isn't as long as some on here but I can recall when North was not even the poor cousin in the mainstream media. We were totally ignored, a fact that had altered significantly since Heath joined the club.

I wouldn't mind the club posting the vision of player arthroscopes. Surely the vision one be easy enough to source from the hospital.

Further to that, colonoscopy's too.

And one last thing - don't bag the fun videos like paper, scissors, rock etc...

These are moments we rarely get to capture with our boys and they show personality and I think it's worth reminding everyone that we are all human and like to have some fun at times to break the monotony. It doesn't mean our guys spend all day playing childish games, it was 2minutes in a week of intense training - I think it's important to put these things in perspective.

If we can't have those videos and insights - we'd have a bunch of boring robots and no light hearted stuff to amuse us!
i love the fun videos and actually encourage more of that.Would love to see players interviewing players like GWS do with their G1 and G3 segment on youtube.

Also noticed their haven't been many pictures from training uploaded recently, would love a training gallery once a week if possible.

Love the work by the media team keep up the good work:thumbsu: my issue is with the match committee and their lack of changes to players performing poorly regularly

No they wouldn't....

Agree to disagree, Mr B. I think if we were 9-0 and 325%, some negative nancies on here would still find things to complain about.

Fair enough.
I just think that criticism like this tends to comes out when the team isn't performing up to our standards (obviously some peoples standards are higher than others, hence your post above). But to criticise a department of our football club that, by all accounts, is as good if not better than any others around is pretty poor. I couldn't see this being brought up as an issue if we had beaten WCE and Adelaide.

Some people are taking out their frustrations unfairly on a department that more than holds it own against other clubs - there we agree.

I've read all the posts - thanks to all of you.

We understand that we're not going to keep everyone happy 100% of the time, but please know we are open to suggestions and ideas - always.

I also want to say - while there's been some individualising on here (thanks), I have an amazing team working with me every day in Rob (the dog), Chelsea, Tom, Rick and Shannon (graphic designer). Yes things have improved (I hope) since 2008, but it's been because of these great people and their work ethic.

Fair to say the only thing I'm disappointed with is the fact Kanga Kick is no longer on the NMFC website.

Many hours of high school were spent playing that game!

I think deep down this is pretty much everyone's issue.

Have been contemplating such things, I reckon Brad believes he's almost got it right. Is backing those he chooses to get the job done. He sees what we see, knows more than we know. He aint stoopid.

There must be method to see perceived madness.

This year isn't about flags, but from next year on- it's freakin on, we should push top four.

As with everyone here, I think the Media Dept. do a fantastic job, the website in particular has been first rate for a couple of years even with the hiccups (that most clubs had) at the start of the year. I make it a mission to click on the sponsor links every few weeks, to keep the traffic stats up;).

I can remember having very heated worrds with folk at the club (pre current regime) about the state of the website. I was called after criticising it on BF and given the 'rounds of the kitchen' by a staff member. I stood by what I said at the time and we had an unpleasant conversation. Back then the website would go untouched for days at a time, weeks when off season.

No question now the website is first rate, current, newsy and I have it as my home page. Never a day goes past that I don't check the content. Serious kudos to everyone involved.

Would love to know how many staff we have compared to say Collingwood or Essendon. I suspect we would be punching well above our weight.

Keep up the great work.

Great thread. Really encourage this type of discussion especially if it's designed to achieve some results for supporters and members on the website etc.

Everything we do, is with you in mind because at the end of the day, we are there to keep you informed and give you what you want. We crunch our website numbers everyday and analyse what types of articles/vids get the biggest hits etc but this forum will help a lot.

So I encourage you to give us an indication of some things you'd like to see, but be aware...not everything can be done.

The team selection video was an interesting one and for strategic reasons as we were hoping another sponsor was going to come on board but after reading some comments here, we might look to bring it back ASAP.

Thanks all - Heath

If you could get some of the centre bounce positioning and tap outs including stoppages around the ground during tomorrow's game, I would be very interested.

FWIW, the videos play very well on Smart Phones and I tend to watch them via the NMFC app.

We've seen a detailed colonoscopy of the last 10 minutes of last week's game on just about every footy related program this week. Can't remember a similar level of coverage for North in the media. :)

I think you'd have to be comatose not to have noticed the MASSIVE improvement in that time. You guys do a kick arse job.

One suggestion I raised previously on BF is to have coach/player commentary tracks of specific games - or even make it into box set(s). There may be licensing/commercial issues surely it wouldn't cost much to do (and I'd be interested to see if it resulted in more units being sold).

On a negative note - whoever put the f***ing end of the West Coast game on the scoreboard last week deserves right royal flogging. Can I expect to see the end of the Adelaide game tomorrow?

I've been very impressed with the use of YouTube especially. The amount of video content and availability to full press conferences is something I personally value a lot.

Living overseas since well what seems like forever, i can get and receive plenty of info concerning our club, the players, the pre and post match reviews etc. and as a result i feel well informed as if I had never left Melbourne even though I am unable to attend the games in person. ThereforeI am very appreciative of the work the club does in this regard. While we always say that stuff can always be better, what we get from our club is also recognised to be of a very high standing by other clubs supporters which makes me feel very good about our great club and the work that the administration and staff are putting in. Well done.

Heath and co. do a fantastic job at keeping the fans informed and entertained, as said earlier in the thread if the club had access to the funds that the bigger clubs had North would be #1 in terms of content produced. I love the press conferences from BS and while I don't mind the videos such as the golf day I can see why people don't like them. If I had to have one knock it would be we don't see enough JB, the video of him trying to take a mark was hilarious, I understand he is a very busy man, but you can see just he how much he loves the club. Would like to see more of that shown. :thumbsu:

The Post-Match Presentation video was fantastic viewing Heath and co. To me personally, stuff like that is gold and makes you feel that bit closer to the club.

Saying that actually all of the post-match media has been fantastic, in particular this game. Great stuff :thumbsu:

:thumbsu: a big thumbs up for the excellent quality videos put out regularly by NMFC media dept, also the website is really well done, i am a regular visitor, and have seen it praised by some other clubs saying it puts theirs to shame, add to this the True North magazines and we are being well looked after, kudos to heath and his team, onwards and upwards

Yeah I agree.

I said as much in the review thread. Wonderful insight.

Cheers No Bull Heath, Rob and co.
