Official Rumours Thread!

Okay, so we have plenty of stuff flying around the place, so I thought we should put it all into one thread to save us reading through 5 or 6 of them. Add anything you know (that is serious), and I'll try and add them all to this very post so people can see it without sifting through posts. BT, if you can, sticky this at the top. The ones I know are:

* Strong Interest is still being shown in Whitnall, although Carlton told us bluntly on the first day of trade week that he wasn't up for trade at all.

* Pending the Whitnall outcome, contract negotiations with Ben Holland will be put on hold until after trade week.

* No real interest is being shown in Woewodin.

* Steven Armstrong has told the club he wants a fresh start elsewhere, and this doesn't necessarily mean in WA. Port is strongly linked to him, and it's gaining momentum every day. Reports today suggest they are still interested.

* Essendon are interested in Chris Heffernan, and have apparently met with him already, even though SS says he's "crap". ;)

* We have missed out on Daniel Motlop, who has declared Port Adelaide his preffered destination

* Jon Hay and Fevola are out of the equation.

* According to many, Luke Williams and Cameron Hunter have been told they are not required for 2006.

* Daniel Ward has asked, once again, to be traded. No-one wanted him last season so I can't see this changing, and he SHOULD be delisted.

If you guys have more that I've missed (and they are serious!), let me know. I'm not interested in hypothetical deals, just want to know who we may be linked too etc. Thanks. I'll put done deals/delistings at the top in bold.

Without wanting to sound like chiliboy, I can confirm:

- No interest in Woewodin.

- Very much in the running for Lance, although Carlton still haven't conceded losing him.

- Armstrong to Port is virtually a done deal.

- Hunter and Williams HAVE been delisted.

- No interest in Fev and Hay.

- Motlop is willing to sign with us.

- Heffernan is ********.

My source is very reliable. Did I not report about Armstrong/Port nearly 2 weeks ago. :)

Confirmed! :D

Just on the Motlop issue, he is very interested in coming to Melbourne, but we will probably struggle to find a good enough trade if we also get Whitnall. It is a choice of one or the other, otherwise we'd be looking at trading someone like Green.

* Daniel Ward has asked (again) to be traded.

I'll update the first post. At least you both have some cred so it's worth putting in! ;)

However, I won't be putting anything as a "done deal" until it's actually happened.

One of the papers, I think; The Age states that we have some interest in Copeland.

Gee I hope so. :)

Interesting... does he want to be traded, or do Brissie want to offload him?

I'm going to wait on the Age site to update for tomorrow before adding anything else, hopefully it sheds some light on not only this, but other stuff as well.

The Age today -

"Motlop yesterday met Adelaide and will today be assessed by Melbourne medical staff. Port Adelaide and Brisbane are also both aggressively chasing the forward."

...That's good right? We'll ASSESSED him medically...YEAAAHHH

It is, in a way, but that's what he went to Adelaide for, and I believe he has also been assessed by the Brisbane staff as well.

Shows he's interested, yes, but he's far from being a Demon.

i'd love to have Robert Copeland, more than I would like to have Motlop. We need a dirty tagger and he is apparently a great player at mouthing off, learnt from Vossy, the king!

Hay would be taking nicholsons spot but then we would still have 4 tall key defenders with Bate and Dunn and Newton still in the mix.

This is my list of priorities

Fevola (I am only putting him first because he would be a better player than Whitnall but I know that it is pretty much out of the question)
Whitnall
Copeland
Motlop
Hay
Woewodin (I would seriously take him as a depth player if he had a low paying, preformance based contract and was cheap to get trade wise...PSD even)

If it comes to our pick in the PSD and woewodin is still available, should we take him? this is assuming that there is noone decent left.

Yes.

Oh yeah, one of the newspapers reported we were interested in trading for Ryan ********ing Lonie! :thumbsd:

I'm ignoring that last part and not adding it to the first post for obvious reasons. You had to go and wreck it, didn't you? ;)

If possible, can you dig up the quote for that... was it in the Australian?

Copeland would be good, we've chased him before. As for Ward, he's contracted for another year, so probably won't be delisted. If we could get Ted Richards perhaps, for Heffernan, that may work, but I think if we get Whitnall, will look at trading players for picks, rather than for other players as picks come much cheaper.

shouldn't have traded him, wasn't a nice thing :o

Updated the first post. Things are not looking good for us on the trade front after today - we have already missed on Motlop and Carlton have basically told us to f*ck off in regards to Whitnall.
