The dance of goal was Murphy saying **** this I'm the captain view down to me. The ruin on the wing was Murphy saying I am captain I will lead welcome back skipper.

Damn well bloody wrong.
You Are Our Captain Marc Murphy and we will follow you into every battle!!.:hearts:;)

Remember that thread asking him to hand over the captaincy

It's another one of those valid opinions at the time they were made I think. Murph hadn't been showing on field leadership. He was struggling with own game and we looked rudderless out there. Like most of the team Murph probably needed that attention on him to fire up a bit.

It doesn't necessarily follow that his last fortnight form would have come regardless. There was definitely something going on between the ears for these guys.

Just hoping they realise what work rate and sacrifice can do and keep doing it.

Everyone saying remember that thread and all that crap need to pull their heads in, at the time it was a very valid opinion and argument. We were all disappointed with Murphy because we all knew how much of a gun he is and he wasn't performing like a leader of the club and wasn't doing himself justice either. But in the last two weeks I have seen the Murphy of old a gun a champion and a leader of the CFC he needs to stamp his authority on this team and has/is doing it the last two weeks let's hope it continues. Welcome back Marc Murphy you have been missed.

Loved how eager Daisy was to give it off to his skipper too.

Selfless footy. :thumbsu:

Daisy has been well and truly Carlton-ised now.
The handball to Murph and then the smother on Wellingham.
Bring on Friday night!

Murphy has been absolutely brilliant over the past fortnight. Has really stood up and led the side magnificently.

Of course words are important but for mine actions speak so much louder on the field. A true leader leads by example and that's exactly what we've seen from him against the Bulldogs and the Eagles.

He really has been immense and surely will be rewarded with 6 votes over the past two games. Has had a terrific start to the year but has really lifted his game to a whole new level recently. Well and truly back to his 2011 best, for mine.

Copped his fair whack as under-performing skipper of an under-performing side but has bounced back in the best way possible.

Also worth mentioning is the team ethos which has been apparent these past few games. The first month of the year we looked to be playing as individuals rather than for each other, but that has turned around over the past fortnight. We're playing committed team football and everyone has benefited from that, but perhaps no-one more so than our skipper.

Well done Murph. Keep this form up and we'll be laughing.

Such a thread is a knee-jerk reaction. You can't make a definitive call on anyone's captaincy without a long term sample to judge this on.

Murphy wasn't a bad captain last year & ultimately finished the year quite strongly & whilst he was slow out of the blocks this season, to want to remove the captaincy from him after a handful of games where it was obvious most of the team was down on confidence/self belief or what ever it was, certainly seemed an irrational view. If this malaise had continued for the whole season, then supporters & the club would have had plenty of ammunition to suggest that the captaincy didn't sit well with him.

He has had 2 ordinary games by my reckoning and was top 5-8 in 2 other losses while being BOG in the 2 wins. Hardly "slow off the blocks"..

Absolutely brilliant the last fortnight. Admittedly I'm one of those people that refuse to see any negative about Murph no matter how he's playing.

Nice for some of the media flogs to eat their words on him. *Cough, Matthew Lloyd, cough*.

Its still got me buggered where all this tenacity and fight was for the first 4 weeks, but a switch certainly has been turned on. Most noticible is the tackle press not only just the team, but Gibbs & Murphy in particular. Hope the fire has been lit under everyone and stay lit.

The feeling of going in hard and actually winning matches should be more than enough reward to keep it going, better than not giving a shit and coming home with a loss. Pride in the jumper boys, keep showing it.

The players & Mick keep talking about how much murph does for the players off field which is great to hear. Mick says he often has to tell Murph he's spreading himself too thin.
